February 6th Deliberative Session

Hello Shaker Regional Families and Staff,

The Shaker Regional School District Deliberative Session for the 2019-2020 proposed budget will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 6:00 pm in the Belmont High School (BHS) Gymnasium. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will be held Thursday, February 7, 2019; 6 pm at BHS. Notice of such change will be posted on the School District's website, www.sau80.org and on WMUR under Closings and Delays.

Hard copies of the Deliberative Session Budget Book are available at both town halls and libraries, at Canterbury General Store, and at all four of our schools. We have posted a PDF version on the homepage of our website at www.sau80.org. I have also attached a PDF version to this email for your convenience.

Re: Afterschool Activities

Hi Everyone,

Just as a follow up to the previous email, please read below for the final announcement regarding after-school activities. There will be no after-school activities after 5 p.m. that means:

1. Track practice is still on for today as scheduled, so is boys ice hockey.
2. Alpine ski will not practice today due to the timing of their practice and potential for students to be driving home in the storm.
3. The boys and girls Varsity and JV basketball games today vs Winnisquam have been postponed. They will be played tomorrow at 4:30 and 6 p.m., both boys and girls.
4. Girls varsity basketball will practice today from 2:30-3:45. Boys varsity will practice from 3:45-5. There will be no JV basketball practices today
5. The Belmont High School Unified basketball game is postponed. It will be played on February 7 at 3:15 at Plymouth HS.

Please call or email if you have any questions. Again, this is only with regards to activities at Belmont High School this afternoon.

School Budget - Important Events in January

Hello Shaker Regional Families and Staff,

January is here, putting us right into the midst of school budget season. The school board has been working diligently to develop a 2019-2020 proposed budget that we feel is fiscally responsible and meets the needs of the district. In the coming weeks, there are a few important dates to put on your calendar. They are as follows;

First Public Hearing - Tomorrow, Monday (1/7) at 6 PM at Canterbury Elementary School 

Second Public Hearing - This Wednesday (1/9) at 6 PM at Belmont Middle School

School Funding 101 Forum (please see the attached flyer) - Thursday (1/17) at 6 PM at Belmont High School. This forum will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the history and structure of school funding in our state. Specifically, you will learn about the state's responsibility to fund public education and how this responsibility has been downshifted to the local taxpayer over time.

I encourage all of you to attend the above events. Please mark your calendars.
