Athlete of the week:

Congratulations to Alice Riley on being selected Athlete of the Week by the Laconia Citizen. On September 26th at Waterville Valley Alice, a freshmen, won the race with a time of 21:46. Catch Alice and the Cross Country Team in action on October 9th for the Belmont Jerry Blair Cross Country Invitational held at BHS at 4:00pm

FLU SHOTS:

Ø  BHS will not be offering a student flu shot clinic this year due to a cut in the funding of this grant.  However, Clear Choice MD in Belmont is offering free flu shots this weekend!

 

Ø  Free Flu Shots October 3-4 from 8am-8pm at Clear Choice MD Urgent Care Center at the Belknap Mall for individuals aged 6 months and older.  Patients are asked to bring a photo ID.  All vaccinations will be free of charge and insurance will not be billed.  Good health habits combined with the flu vaccination, is the best way to avoid contracting or spreading the flu.

Seniors:

Ø  Seniors and parents! The NHHEAF College Night, Tuesday, Oct 6th @ 6:30PM in the BHS café.  AT 6:30PM IN THE BHS CAFETERIA

Ø  Attention all Juniors and Sophomores! The PSAT is happening here at BHS on October 14th! Please come to guidance as soon as possible to sign up to take this test, to prepare for your SAT! The cost of the test will be $15, but see guidance if you need assistance. 

 

Ø  We need 8-10 students and 2 parents (grillers) to help out at homecoming on Saturday, October 3rd.  Please see Mrs. Pitrone to sign up. Shifts are from 11:30-2:30 and 2:30-5:30. Also, we need donations of grilling meats, breads and condiments.  Ideas?  See Ms. Pitrone in 210.

 

Class of 2017:

Class of 2017, we still are in need of donations for homecoming. If you are willing to donate something, see Taylor Yelle for the list of things that need to be donated. 

 

Class of 2019:

Freshmen and parents:

Homecoming at BHS revolves around community and sports. Fri. we have Unity Day where we have team games between block 5/6 classes, the bonfire and dance and Sat. sports. Each grade sells concessions. This year we have snacks. Mrs. Hamilton and Hampton are the class advisers. They asked local stores for donations. They are asking your help to follow up and shop. There are specific items we need. If you can help please email either. The students sell these items during the games to raise money for prom and other class activities.  We have one student per time slot signed for each 1/2 shift. We need more volunteers. Please encourage them to participate and become involved. Thanks. Have a great week.

Ø  Student council need your help in collecting wooden pallets for the home coming bonfire that will be happening Friday,October 2nd. Please only bring non painted pallets to the designated grass area behind student parking. Pick-up truck needed to pick up pallets for bonfire.  If you have a pick-up truck and are willing to drive to pick up pallets for our bonfire, please see Mr. McDonald or Mr. Cilley.

 

Ø  "Belmont High Homecoming T-shirts are on sale this week from 10:30 - 11:00 in the lobby.  $5 each or $10 for two.  You can also ask your local Student Council Leadership Team representative about purchasing a shirt."

 

Ø  Homecoming Bonfire and Dance will be Friday,October 2nd 7-10pm. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend BHS you need to get a permission form in the main office.

 

Ø  Show your ally week support for the LGBTQA and community by wearing purple this Thursday, and show your school support this Friday by wearing BHS colors.

 

FBLA:

Important meeting being held on Friday, Oct 2nd- second half of power hour in Rm 202.


DRAMA:

Any student wishing to attend the NH Educational Theatre Guild's Fall Workshops at Plymouth State on October 16th should pick up the paperwork from the bulletin board outside the band room and turn it in with payment to Ms. Pitrone in room 210 as soon as possible.  The deadline for schools to register is by October 3rd.  

Math Team:

Math Team members planning to compete in next week's math meet need to see Mrs. Delgado by Friday - Room 209.

 

SPANISH CLUB:

Are you a leader? Do you want to run for office? Do you need National Honor Society volunteer hours? Do you want to build your resume, college applications or scholarship prospects? Ø  Any senior who is applying to for Service Academy Nominations from Senator Jeanne Shaheen needs to have all their application materials postmarked or hand delivered to her Manchester office by the close of business on Friday, October 2, 2015.

 

Ø  Any senior who is applying for the 32 credit diploma of distinction, the 20 credit diploma or an application to be an early graduate must see Mrs. O'Connell in the guidance office to pick up applications for this process. Completed applications are due back in the guidance office by October 15th.

 

Ø  Dr. Richards will be available for college/career, financial aid and scholarship planning in group appointments or one-on-one appointments to help you plan your senior year and beyond. Sign up sheets are in the guidance office. She will make herself available during power hour on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at BHS and can make individual appointments at other times as needed. 

 

 

Ø  Girls in grades 9-12 who are interested in a future in Computers, please come to guidance to

           learn more about the Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont Award for Aspirations in Computing!    

          The national winner comes away with $500, and there are college scholarship opportunities as

2.     Career Power Hour is BACK and October is LRCC Month!  Please sign up in guidance for the FREE Catered Lunch for one or ALL of the sessions!  Professionals will be here to answer your questions about career options and skills needed to be successful in the following career paths:

Congrats to Mike Sanborn for earning co-medalist honors at Canterbury Woods yesterday.  Mike played great in his last home golf match carding five pars and shooting a tournament low 43.  Also scoring for the team in a second place finish were, Nicole Antonucci 48, Trevor Hunt 51, and Wyatt Paquin 53.

Cross Country Success Again!!

Belmont's Cross-Country teams continued to build on their strong season at the Waterville Valley League Championship.  Opening up the day, Andy Lowe won the Middle School race by over a minute.  In the Girls race, Alice Riley won with a time of 21:46 and Alexus Day finished 12th with a time of 22:50.  For the Boys, Ian Remenar placed 8th in a time of 18:22, followed by Nick Randos (18th 18:50), Isaiah Knowlton (35th 20:13), Aidan Rupp (39th 20:18), and Kaleb Brown (125th 26:35).  Everyone set a new pr at the meet, Nick and Alexus with the biggest drop (1:38 and 1:39).  The boys placed 6th as a team, 3 of the teams finishing ahead of them were D2.  Great job all!

The BHS student council is looking for a handful of chaperones for the homecoming dance and fire that is going to take place here at BHS on Friday October 2nd. This year's dance will go from 7-10 pm. Please e-mail Dave McDonald or Joe Cilley if you are willing and able.

Homecoming Bonfire and Dance will be Friday October 2nd 7-10pm. If you are bringing a guest that does not attend BHS you need to get a permission form in the main office.

Chaperones needed:

The BHS student council is looking for a handful of chaperones for the homecoming dance and fire that is going to take place here at BHS on Friday October 2nd. This year's dance will go from 7-10 pm. Please e-mail Dave McDonald or Joe Cilley if you are willing and able. 


Student Council:

Student council need your help in collecting wooden pallets for the home coming bonfire that will be happening Friday October 2nd. Please only bring non painted pallets to the designated grass area behind student parking. 

Pick-up truck needed to pick up pallets for bonfire.  If you have a pick-up truck and are willing to drive to pick up pallets for our bonfire, please see Mr. McDonald or Mr. Cilley.

DRAMA:

Any student wishing to attend the NH Educational Theatre Guild's Fall Workshops at Plymouth State on October 16th should pick up the paperwork from the bulletin board outside the band room and turn it in with payment to Ms. Pitrone in room 210 as soon as possible.  The deadline for schools to register is by October 3rd.  

 

LR Scholarship 2015 Community Spelling Bee:

October 22, 2015 @ 6:30pm Laconia High School

Guidance:

1. Any senior who is applying to for Service Academy Nominations from Senator Jeanne Shaheen needs to have all their application materials postmarked or hand delivered to her Manchester office by the close of business on Friday, October 2, 2015.

 

2. Any senior who is applying for the 32 credit diploma of distinction, the 20 credit diploma or an application to be an early graduate must see Mrs. O'Connell in the guidance office to pick up applications for this process. Completed applications are due back in the guidance office by October 15th.

 

National Honor Society:

National Honor Society Members: We are signed up to do the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk on October 25th at 10:00 am. Please plan accordingly, and email me your t-shirt size at jhaubrich@sau80.org. Thank you! Ms. Haubrich

1.      Ocean Discovery Day at UNH on October 16th – Students interested in exploring careers in Marine Science should take advantage of this opportunity!  You will be able to talk with Scientists, operate an ROV in the deep water tank, learn about ocean mapping and acoustics and touch live sea creatures.  Please sign up in Guidance by 10/8/15 to reserve a spot on the bus!
