Athletics:

Alpine Ski Meet @ Gunstock 9:00am

Saturday 1/31:

Ice Hockey @ Manchester West (JFK Arena) 4:30pm. Bus leaves 2:30pm.

Sunday 2/1:
Indoor Track @ UNH 9:00am. Bus Leaves 7:30am

Indoor Track & Field:

Under first year head coach, Scott Clark, the boys' indoor track & field team placed first in the Division III Championship Meet last weekend at the University of Southern Maine, outdistancing 2nd place Monadnock HS by 20 points. Ian Rupp, Kyle Gelinas, Colby Leroux and TJ Hennessey placed first in the 4x400m Relay in a school record setting time of 3:53.49. Also setting school records were Bruce Zimmer (3rd place, shot put, 45' 10.5") and the 4x200m relay team of Michael Burbank, Kyle Patten, Ian Remenar and River Mathieu (3rd, 1:44.79). Michael Burbank, only a sophomore, placed first (6.92) in the 55m dash, missing the school record by 0.01 sec. Also scoring for the boys' team were Ian Rupp (3rd, 1000m, 2:49.43), Kyle Gelinas (5th, 1500m, 4:39.97) and River Mathieu (3rd, long jump, 18' 1"). Ian Remenar (9.86), Marc Forgione (10.69), Danny Iacopucci (10.60) and Chris Bartz (12.96) swept places 2nd through 5th in the 55m Hurdles. The girls' team placed 8th with 14 points. They were led by Emma Chase (4th, 1000m, 3:33.23), Janet Syed (5th, 600m, 1:51.15), Emily Vachon (5th, long jump, 11'11") and the 4x400m relay team (3rd, 4:53.45) of Jasmine Syed, Nicole Rosas, Emily Ennis and Emma Chase. Overall Belmont HS athletes set 26 personal records in the championship meet.

Scholar Athlete Awards:

The Scholar Athlete Awards will be held at the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord on Monday February 2nd at 11:30am. Parents are welcome to attend. The bus will leave BHS at 8:30am. Any questions please see Ms. Knolhoff

Friends of Belmont Football:

Will be hosting their 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner at Lochmere Country Club on Jan 31st from 5 to 8 pm (Greenside Restaurant located @ 360 Laconia Road, Route 3 Tilton, NH). Spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and many desserts will be served. There will also be a cash bar, and 50/50 raffle. Ticket Donations of $10 for adults and $5 for kids (12 years and under) will be greatly appreciated. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from board members. Donations may be in form of cash, credit, and/or debit. 
Last year was a good turnout and we hope to see more people this year. Monies raised during this fundraiser will benefit Belmont athletes for their future football season. Gather your friends and family and come out and have fun with us!

Guidance:

The last day to drop or add a class for semester 2 is Monday 2/2 by 2:30pm

Educational Talent Search is looking for sophomores and juniors who are interested in their FREE program. Educational Talent Search is a way of helping students attain the goal of attending college by meeting regularly with a college advisor beginning in the 6th grade through senior year during school hours. The ETS advisor will oversee college and financial aid applications. The student will benefit from fee waivers which permit the student to take SAT's  and ACT's at no cost and apply to college free. ETS is a federally funded program administered by UNH at no cost to the student. Eligibility is determined by the desire to attend college and income guidelines. SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS WHO WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS PROGRAM SHOULD ATTEND A SPECIAL MEETING IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE DURING POWER HOUR ON WED. 2/4.

Laconia Adult Education is offering an SAT Prep Class starting on Wednesday, March 11th from 6-9pm for 7 weeks. The cost of the class with the book is $95. Please call the Laconia Adult Education office at 524-5712 with questions or to enroll.

This is the very last call for baby pictures from seniors. The yearbook staff will not be accepting them at all after this Friday, January 30th. Contact Ashley, Kate, or Caitlyn with any questions or concerns.

The boys' lacrosse team is getting geared up for pre-season conditioning!  Any students who have signed up for, or are interested in participating on the boy's lacrosse team, please email your name, parent's name, parent's email address and phone number to Coach Darren Premo at Premobuilders@comcast.net or contact Coach at 738-4138.  Coach Premo will use this contact information to let parents know about ordering helmets, practice times, game information, fundraisers and more.  We look forward to a great season !

Snow Sculpture

Gather your teams together for snow sculpture building in Belmont!  Packets explaining the guidelines can be picked up in the Main Office or at Belmont Town Hall.  They are also on the Town of Belmont's website at www.belmontnh.org.  Snow sculpture designs must be pre-approved by February 6th.  If the snow is sticky enough for sculptures, a kickoff party will be held on Saturday, February 14th  near the Belmont Library.  Compete against another class, or get a team together of friends or club members.  Show us your hidden snow sculpture talent, and create a work of art for all to enjoy!

 

Library:

Thank you to those students who have returned or renewed books checked out from the library from the previous semester.  Please try and find and return any lost or
overdue materials before next week to reduce the number of reminders the library has to send out, and so Mr. Russell doesn't have to hunt you down.  It will also give everyone a chance to stop by the library and participate in Mr. Russell's "Put the Super Back in SUPER Bowl" school survey.


Softball Registration:

Signups for Lakes Region Girls Softball are open to residents of Belmont, Canterbury and Laconia. Registration is at Belmont Middle School January 31 from 8:00am-1:00pm, February 11 from 5:00pm-6:30pm, March 11 from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Eligible ages are 5-18. Forms are available in the Main Office.

National French Honor Society

There will be a brief meeting at the beginning of Power Hour on Today, January 29.

Friends of Belmont Football:

Will be hosting their 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner at Lochmere Country Club on Jan 31st from 5 to 8 pm (Greenside Restaurant located @ 360 Laconia Road, Route 3 Tilton, NH). Spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and many desserts will be served. There will also be a cash bar, and 50/50 raffle. Ticket Donations of $10 for adults and $5 for kids (12 years and under) will be greatly appreciated. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from board members. Donations may be in form of cash, credit, and/or debit. 
Last year was a good turnout and we hope to see more people this year. Monies raised during this fundraiser will benefit Belmont athletes for their future football season. Gather your friends and family and come out and have fun with us!

There will be a Boys Lacrosse Meeting on Today at 11:00am in the gym. (During power hour). Anyone returning to the team or interested in playing should attend.

 

10th Graders:

Tuesday, Jan.27 all 10th graders will be called to the gym at 10:10 for a Power Hour presentation of the Huot Technical Center programs that will be available to them as 11th graders. Interested students will then travel to the Huot Technical Center for a tour of the programs on Thursday February 5th.  

Friends of Belmont Football:

Will be hosting their 2nd annual Spaghetti Dinner at Lochmere Country Club on Jan 31st from 5 to 8 pm (Greenside Restaurant located @ 360 Laconia Road, Route 3 Tilton, NH). Spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and many desserts will be served. There will also be a cash bar, and 50/50 raffle. Ticket Donations of $10 for adults and $5 for kids (12 years and under) will be greatly appreciated. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance from board members. Donations may be in form of cash, credit, and/or debit. 
Last year was a good turnout and we hope to see more people this year. Monies raised during this fundraiser will benefit Belmont athletes for their future football season. Gather your friends and family and come out and have fun with us!

Reminder for All Seniors Going On the Senior Trip to Florida: A second deposit in the amount of $150 is due by January 22nd.  Please make checks payable to Belmont High School and submit to Ms. Tardugno.

Laconia Adult Education is offering an SAT Prep Class starting on Wednesday, March 11th from 6-9pm for 7 weeks. The cost of the class with the book is $95. Please call the Laconia Adult Education office at 524-5712 with questions or to enroll.

Any student who needs to make semester 2 schedule changes needs to do so during Power Hour by Thursday 1/22. ALL SCHEDULE CHANGES MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE START OF SEMESTER 2!
