Lakes Region Girls Softball Pitchers & Catchers Clinic:

LRGS is offering a clinic specifically for softball pitching and catching. Clinics are open to any girl from Belmont or Canterbury (age 9-18) with or without prior experience. The clinics will run in Jan and Feb. There will be (2) sessions available. The goal is to keep the clinics small to allow for more one on one instruction. Because of this, each session will be limited to 10 pitchers and 10 catchers. Registration forms must be received no later than Dec 31st to reserve a spot. At this point in time you can register online by going to www.lakesregiongirlssoftball.com. Or you can pick up an informational sheet in the main office for all the details.

Congratulations to Julia Ashey on her acceptance to St. Michael's College and to Allyson Haskell on her acceptance to Lakes Region Community College

 

Reminder to seniors to check the "College Bound" section of BHS website for new scholarship opportunities.

 

The guidance department is looking for students who are interested in architecture, construction, timber frame building, historic preservationist, heavy equipment and engineering to participate on Friday, January 11th during 4th block at the Huot Tech Center Career Panel. Transportation will be provided, NO COST to attend. See Mrs. O'Connell in guidance to sign up and get a permission slip. Deadline to sign up will be Tuesday, Jan 8th.

 

Drivers Education:

The next Drivers Ed class will begin on January 8th and will run until Feb. 21st. You must be 16 by the last class. Classes are each Tues. & Thurs. from 6:00-8:00PM. If you are interested in signing up please pick up a form in the main office. Please note a deposit of $150 is due when you pass in your paperwork.

Can tabs - FBLA will be collecting can tabs throughout the year for David's House.  Students are asking families to set up a collection bag or box at home and periodically bring them in.  The can tabs will be delivered to David's House at the end of March.  Thank you for supporting this great cause!

Congratulations to the BG hockey team for their 10-1 win over Laconia-Winnisquam last night, bringing their record to 3-0.  Scoring and tallying assists for Belmont were Caleb Drouin, Dylan Treamer, Daryl Cahill, Andrew D'Amour and Jeremy D'Amour.  BG plays again on Saturday against Kennett in Conway.

 Holiday Ugly Sweater Contest:

Aaron McLelland will be organizing a holiday ugly sweater competition for his senior project. The competition will take place tomorrow. It is $5 to enter and the student or faculty member with the ugliest sweater will win a $15 gift card to Dunkin Donuts. All proceeds will go to the Belmont Fire Dept. Entry money needs to be handed into either Aaron McLelland or Ms. Pitrone by 2:15PM today.

 Student Council Holiday t-shirts will be in today . We will also have more for sale in sizes medium and large. $10 each.

 

French Club:

The French Club has 9 poinsettias from Coles in Loudon for sale in the main office. There is a 7" red for
$15,  four 6.5" red glitter ($11),   We also have lots of holiday chocolates that we made.  We are selling them for $1 a bag.  There are chocolate-covered marshmallows, chocolate-covered Oreos, white chocolate, milk, dark...  Great stocking stuffers!!

Drama:

 The following students need to return their  Librettos / Scripts / Music back from the musical to Ms. Fair or students who have not returned theirs will owe $25! Kieran Harpell, Asher Clark, Devon Sweeney, Katie Tarr.

Athletics:

Indoor Track & Field:

The indoor track and field team opened its 2012-13 competition season at Dartmouth College on Saturday. Highlights included a 3rd place, school record performance by Joe Boles in the 1000m run. His time of 2:41.59 is a state meet qualifier. Rebecca Drew-Moyer placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 29' 1.25", also a state meet qualifying performance. Personal records were set by Micah Reminar (55m and shot put), Zach Roy (55m and 300m), Austin Haddock (300m) and Aaron McLelland (600m). Aaron and Austin both qualified for the pre-state meet. 


BG Hockey:

Congratulations to the BG Bulldogs for their 9-3 win over ConVal on Saturday.  Scoring and tallying assists for Belmont were Daryl Cahill, Caleb Drouin, Jeremy D'Amour, Tevin Mitchell, Brandon Heimlich and Andrew D'Amour.  Goalies Calvin Davis and Alex Turcotte shared net minder duties in the win.  The next game is at home vs Laconia-Winnisquam on Wednesday night at 6:00 at Laconia ICe Arena.

 

Guidance:

Congratulations to Jeremy D'Amour on his acceptances to Colby Sawyer College and New England College and  to Nicole Derosia on her acceptance to the University of Maine @ Orono

Math Team:

Congratulations goes out to our fabulous math team, who is currently in first place in the senior math category in the division of all small schools of about 500 students in the Lakes Region. We are currently leading the second place school by only 6 points (Tilton Prep). Kudo's to Mrs. Delgado and Ms. Jemery and the seniors on the math team.

The Student Council is selling holiday t-shirts for $10. If you are interested in preordering, please see either Austin Wilder or Mr. Bourque. You will need to provide them with your name, tshirt size and your $10. Deadline to place your order is tomorrow.

DJ Derrick returns for the Holly Ball dance tomorrow night  from 8:00-10:30PM. Admission is $6.00 per person or $5.00 with a donation of a canned good. If you are planning on bringing a guest who does not go to BHS you will need to pick up a permission form which is  available for pick up in the main office.

 

FBLA:

* Our last meeting of 2012 will be our Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, December 19th at 2:30pm in Mr. Hill's room.  I hope you all can make it!

 

Can tabs - FBLA will be collecting can tabs throughout the year for David's House.  Students are asking families to set up a collection bag or box at home and periodically bring them in.  The can tabs will be delivered to David's House at the end of March.  Thank you for supporting this great cause!

* Congratulations to McKenzi Phelps on her acceptance to Utica College and to  Nikkilynn Mercier on her acceptance to NHTI

 

NASA opportunity for FEMALE High School JUNIORS.  Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholars is an interactive on-line science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning experience for female high school juniors from across the US, culminating in a one-week residential experience at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. Offered at no cost to the student! WISH consists of 8 online modules and a final project from January 2013 through May 2013 under the guidance of certified educators. Based on their success in the online coursework, students may be selected to attend a week-long summer experience where they will interact with NASA scientists, engineers and technologists to design a human mission to Mars. Interested junior female students can obtain additional information and apply on line at www.wish.aerospacescholars.org. The deadline for the application and all supporting documentation is midnight, central time, January 3, 2013.

 

A representative from the US Army has scheduled a visit for tomorrow @ 10:00  Juniors and Seniors should sign up in the guidance office to attend. 

 

Drivers Education:

The next Drivers Ed class will begin on January 8th and will run until Feb. 21st. You must be 16 by the last class. Classes are each Tues. & Thurs. from 6:00-8:00PM. If you are interested in signing up please pick up a form in the main office. Please note a deposit of $150 is due when you pass in your paperwork.
