Athletics:

*TODAY:

Boys Hockey Scrimmage  @ Laconia Ice Arena vs Alvirine- 6:00PM- free admission for students.

 

 

* NO HOMEWORK CLUB TODAY.

 

Guidance:

* Congratulations to Karleigh O'Brien on her acceptance to Belmont University

 

 Financial Aid Night- tonight 6:30-7:30pm in the cafeteria. For students and parents of juniors and seniors who are College Bound. Get answers to your financial aid questions and the FAFSA(federal student aid form for all seniors applying to college). Guidance counselors and a member of NHHEAF(NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation) will be in attendance to guide you through the financial aid process.

 

*NASA opportunity for FEMALE High School JUNIORS.  Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholars is an interactive on-line science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning experience for female high school juniors from across the US, culminating in a one-week residential experience at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston. Offered at no cost to the student! WISH consists of 8 online modules and a final project from January 2013 through May 2013 under the guidance of certified educators. Based on their success in the online coursework, students may be selected to attend a week-long summer experience where they will interact with NASA scientists, engineers and technologists to design a human mission to Mars. Interested junior female students can obtain additional information and apply on line at www.wish.aerospacescholars.org. The deadline for the application and all supporting documentation is midnight, central time, January 3, 2013.

 

*A representative from the US Army has scheduled a visit for Thursday, December 13th at 10AM. Interest Juniors and Seniors should sign up in the guidance office to attend. 

 

JOB SHADOW OPPORTUNITIES:

Students who are interested in the following single-day visits to the following work places, please sign up with Mrs. O'Connell in Guidance or visit Ms. Madsen Mon. or Wed. 

 

1. 3M in Tilton -- half a day with electrical engineers and chemists

 

2. Bob Drew, electrician in Canterbury -- full day learning about electrical and solar energy

 

3.A  tour of Pike Industries in Belmont -- a half-day learning about operation of large machinery, building roads, and civil engineering

 

4.Grappone Auto Group in Concord -- learning about auto repair, auto maintenance, and auto sales

 

5. Windswept Farm in Canterbury -- a half- or full day learning about operations of a horse farm including barn management, riding instruction, horse training, and horse care. 

 

6. Titeflex Aerospace in Laconia -- a full day of learning about aeorspace engineering

 

7. UNH School of Law in Concord -- a half-day experience of law school

 

8.  Franklin Savings Bank in Franklin  -follow a loan officer

 

9. Blouin Steel Fabricators in Northfield.  -- learn from machinists

 

10.A  half-day tour of the State Medical Examiner in Concord -- learn about forensics

 

Also: Those students who signed up for a Public Relations and Sales job shadow with the Manchester Monarchs, please check in with Mrs. O'Connell or Ms. Madsen about your availability in December. 

 

Clubs:

*Prom Committee:

Meeting today at 2:30-3:30 in Rm. 209.

 

*Student Council:

Student Council meeting will be today after school in room 216 

 

Drama:

Ms. Fair needs Librettos / Scripts / Music back from the musical or students who have not returned theirs owe $25!  

What's your story?

We are compiling a collection of student writing about life as a high school student which we will turn into a performance art piece to be presented this spring. All submissions will be considered.  Not all submissions will be used.  Ms. Pitrone reserves the right to edit any submissions and/or use them in part, in whole or in conjunction with other submissions.

Math Team:

 Meet @ BHS today   @ 2:30PM.

 

Class of 2015:

DJ Derrick returns for the Holly Ball dance on Friday Dec 14th from 8:00-10:30PM. Admission is $6.00 per person or $5.00 with a donation of a canned good. If you are planning on bringing a guest who does not go to BHS you will need to pick up a permission form which is  available for pick up in the main office.


FBLA:

* Our last meeting of 2012 will be our Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, December 19th at 2:30pm in Mr. Hill's room.  I hope you all can make it!

 

Can tabs - FBLA will be collecting can tabs throughout the year for David's House.  Students are asking families to set up a collection bag or box at home and periodically bring them in.  The can tabs will be delivered to David's House at the end of March.  Thank you for supporting this great cause!


*French Club Fundraisers:

French Club Meeting on Friday, Dec 7th 2:30PM in Rm 103- you will be making chocolates.


 We are taking orders for Christmas centerpieces. Ask a French club member or Madame (
etakantjas@sau80.org) to order. Deadline to place your order is Friday, Dec. 7th.

 

Spanish Club Fundraising:

The Spanish Club is taking orders for Christmas dessert pies. Orders need to be placed by Dec 14th and will be available for pick up in Rm 105 on Dec 21st. If interested email ennisfamily@comcast.net
