Belmont High School will be holding a "Candidate's Night" on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 6PM in the high school cafeteria. Candidates running for local office, as well as school board candidates will be on hand to answer your questions.

Boys JV and Varsity Basketball @ Farmington . JV starts at 4:30pm,  Varsity starts at 6:00pm .Bus departs at 2:45pm.

 

SATURDAY:

BG Hockey at home against Souhegan, start time 2:20pm

BG plays their last regular season game on Saturday at 2:20 at LIA.  It will be senior day - come and celebrate Belmont seniors Jeremy D'Amour, Brandon Heimlich and Tevin Mitchell as they play their last regular season game.

 

Lakes Region Softball:

Its time to register for LR Girls Softball.Girls must be Belmont or Canterbury residents between the ages of 6 and 18 (as of Dec 1, 2012). Last registration date is Saturday Feb 23rd @ Laconia Middle School 4:00-7:00PM.

Winter Warm up Clinic will start on that day. If you would like more information please stop by the main office.

 

Girls Lacrosse:

1.Belmont High School is preparing for the 2013 Women's Lacrosse Season. Come see how you can be part of the fun. No experience necessary. Find out what it's all about at our informational meeting at 2:30 PM, today in the cafeteria.

 

2. open gym for all high school girls interested in playing lacrosse on Saturday Feb 23rd. as

well as March 2nd, 16th & 23rd at Belmont High School gym from 4:30-7:00 PM. Sticks and goggles are available for use.

 

Drivers Education:

The next Drivers Ed class will begin on March 5th and will run until April 18th. If you are interested in signing up, you should come to the main office to get a form. Please note, you must be turning 16 by April 18th. Class is $650.00 of which a $150 deposit is due one month prior to the class with the remaining $500 by the first day of class. Checks should be made payable to Dale LaPlante.

 

PTO News:

 Parents and students, the PTO would love your printer cartridges!  It is a great money raiser for the school!  Just drop them in the ink cartridge big red drop off box in the lobby.  If you know a business that would like to donate their cartridges, or a local business willing to "host" an ink cartridge donation box,  just let the PTO know at  donnaike@metrocast.net.  We can even arrange for pickup of bulk cartridges.  Thanks so much!

 

BHS PTO meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6 pm in the Guidance office.  We welcome parents to attend anytime their schedule allows, with no commitment required.

Are you a student in grades 9-11 who is interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math & Manufacturing? If so, the Huot Tech Center would like to invite you to a Career Panel Discussion with local professional in those fields. This field trip will take place on Friday, March 15th from 10:10-12:30. Please sign up in the guidance office if your are interested and pick up a permission slip to attend. Students will be taking a bus to Huot and it's FREE!!

 

Students are reminded to return their Huot Tech applications to Mrs. O'Connell ASAP!! If you are planning on attending a Huot Tech program next year, we must have an application from you requesting the class with a Parent Signature.  Many students have signed up, but the guidance department does have applications for everyone. If you lost your application there are additional ones available in the guidance office.

 

Financial Aid Packages:

 Reminder to seniors that most colleges (UNH, Keene, PSU to name a few) will be sending their financial packages through the accepted student portal. You are reminded to check your financial aid status using each of your accounts, many colleges do not MAIL financial packages through US mail. Any questions see guidance.

 

Sophomores who expressed interest in the Multimedia program at the Huot Center and would like another visit : Please sign up with Mrs. O'Connell in Guidance for a 9:30a.m. visit on Tues. March 5th .  Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from the Huot.

NHS will be collecting pennies and any other coins to help patients with Leukemia & Lymphoma.  Pennies for Patients funds research for cures for these blood cancers.  Please help fund cutting edge treatments for these patients. You can find collection boxes in the main, guidance and nurses office.

FBLA:

Can tabs - FBLA will be collecting can tabs throughout the year for David's House.  Students are asking families to set up a collection bag or box at home and periodically bring them in.  The can tabs will be delivered to David's House at the end of March.  Thank you for supporting this great cause!

 

FBLA - Students attending the Monarchs game on March 15th ... your commitment forms are overdue!  Please get your signed form to Mr. Hill.

Congratulations to the BG hockey team for their 7-3 win over Moultonborough-Interlakes last night.
Scoring for Belmont were Caleb Drouin (1 goal), Nikolai Fernandez (1 goal) and Jeremy D'Amour with 5
goals. The win guarantees BG a home playoff game in the first round. BG plays their last regular season

BG Hockey:

Congratulations to the BG hockey team for their 8-2 win against Kennett on Saturday night.  This was BGs first win ever against Kennett!  Scoring for Belmont were Nikolai Fernandez (from Andrew D'Amour), Brandon Heimlich, Caleb Drouin (with 2 goals) and Jeremy D'Amour with a hat trick and an assist.  Protecting the the team on defense was Daryll Cahill and standing tall in net was Calvin Davis.  Come support BG on Wednesday as they face off against Moultonborough-Interlakes in a home town team battle!  Go Bulldogs!!

 

Lakes Region Softball:

Its time to register for LR Girls Softball.Girls must be Belmont or Canterbury residents between the ages of 6 and 18 (as of Dec 1, 2012). If you would like to receive more info please go to the main office to pick up registration info. Please note there is only (1) date left to register ( Feb 23rd.)

 

Girls Lacrosse:

There is open gym for all high school girls interested in playing lacrosse on Saturday Feb  23rd. as

well as March 2nd, 16th & 23rd at Belmont High School gym from 4:30-7:00 PM. Sticks and goggles are available for use.


Miss NH Outstanding Teen Competition:

Samantha Mackes competed alongside 29 other teens from the State in the Miss NH Outstanding Teen Competition this weekend at the Stockbridge Theater in Derry and was awarded the Scholastic Achievement Award. Congratulations to Samantha on this great accomplishment.

 

Drivers Education:

The next Drivers Ed class will begin on March 5th and will run until April 18th. If you are interested in signing up, you should come to the main office to get a form. Please note, you must be turning 16 by April 18th. Class is $650.00 of which a $150 deposit is due one month prior to the class with the remaining $500 by the first day of class. Checks should be made payable to Dale LaPlante.

 

PTO News:

 Parents and students, the PTO would love your printer cartridges!  It is a great money raiser for the school!  Just drop them in the ink cartridge big red drop off box in the lobby.  If you know a business that would like to donate their cartridges, or a local business willing to "host" an ink cartridge donation box,  just let the PTO know at  donnaike@metrocast.net.  We can even arrange for pickup of bulk cartridges.  Thanks so much!

Are you a student in grades 9-11 who is interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math & Manufacturing? If so, the Huot Tech Center would like to invite you to a Career Panel Discussion with local professional in those fields. This field trip will take place on Friday, March 15th from 10:10-12:30. Please sign up in the guidance office if your are interested and pick up a permission slip to attend. Students will be taking a bus to Huot and it's FREE!!


Students are reminded to return their Huot Tech applications to Mrs. O'Connell ASAP!! If you are planning on attending a Huot Tech program next year, we must have an application from you requesting the class with a Parent Signature.  Many students have signed up, but the guidance department does have applications for everyone. If you lost your application there are additional ones available in the guidance office.

 

Seniors:

1. Reminder to seniors that most colleges (UNH, Keene, PSU to name a few) will be sending their financial packages through the accepted student portal. You are reminded to check your financial aid status using each of your accounts, many colleges do not MAIL financial packages through US mail. Any questions see guidance.

2. 5 new scholarship opportunities arrived in guidance.  Zonta for Women, NH Charitable Foundation, Fisher Cats Scholar Athlete, Concord Hospital Associates and NHHAS. Check the guidance office frequently or check out the College Bound section of our website to stay current on the latest scholarships and watch DEADLINES!!

BG Hockey:

Congratulations to the BG hockey team for their 6-1 win over ConVal last night at LIA.  Scoring for Belmont were Jeremy D'Amour (2 goals), Dylan Treamer (1 goal) and Brennan Malone with his first ever high school goal (assisted by Brandon Sheppard and Jason Taylor).  The Bulldogs now stand at 10-5 and have 3 more games before playoffs.  The next game is home against Kennett on Saturday at 4:40.  Go Bulldogs!

 

Girls Alpine Ski Results:

Congratulations to the Girls Alpine Ski Team for a solid performance at the Division III Alpine Championships.  Overall, the girls team, consisting of all freshman and sophomores, finished sixth place out of twelve schools.  Scoring for the team in slalom were freshman Kylie Donovan 22nd, sophomore Madi Blajda 24th, sophomore Cori Heimlich 34th, and sophomore Alexa Robbins 35th.  In giant slalom scorers were, Madi Blajda 21st, sophomore Kaitlyn Berry 26th, Kylie Donovan 30th, and Alexa Robbins 34th.  Great job girls!

 The trip to see the Manchester Monarchs play in support of the fight against breast cancer has been rescheduled for Friday, March 15th.  Please see Mr. Hill by today   for a new permission slip and to confirm your attendance. 


February 10th-16th is National FBLA Week.  The Future Business Leaders of America will be promoting the opportunities that FBLA offers and some of their accomplishments around the school and in the community.  If you are interested in joining FBLA now or next year, please see a current member or Mr. Hill for more information.
