Athletics:

TODAY:

Boys Ice Hockey @ Laconia – 6:50PM

 

Congratulations to the boys alpine ski team for finished a  very impressive 5th place overall at the Division III State Championships.  The team finished seventh in the slalom event, but roared back in the giant slalom with a fourth place finish.  Individually, senior Angelo Palmer led the squad with two top ten finishes, 6th in slalom and 10th in giant slalom.  Junior Chris Spooner-Bishop finished 15th in the giant slalom, freshman TJ Hennessey finished 21st in the slalom and 20th in the giant slalom, senior Austin Wilder finished 24th in the slalom, freshman Cory Yelle finished 28th in the giant slalom, and Sophomore Brad Cyr finished 43rd in the slalom.  Angelo's top ten finished qualified him for his FOURTH consecutive Meet of Champions.  Meet of Champions will be held March 6th at Cannon Mountain.

The girls will compete in their State Championships tomorrow at Gunstock.

Lakes Region Softball:

Its time to register for LR Girls Softball.Girls must be Belmont or Canterbury residents between the ages of 6 and 18 (as of Dec 1, 2012). If you would like to receive more info please go to the main office to pick up registration info. Please note there is only (1) date left to register ( Feb 23rd.)

 

Girls Lacrosse:

There is open gym for all high school girls interested in playing lacrosse beginning Saturday, February 9th, in the Belmont High School gym from 4:30-6:30 PM. Sticks and goggles are available for use.

 

News from the Nurses Office:

Teens on Tanning forum.If interested please see Mrs. Rubbe in the nurses office for details. If 5 or more students sign up they will receive a $15 I-Tunes gift card.

 

Drivers Education:

The next Drivers Ed class will begin on March 5th and will run until April 18th. If you are interested in signing up, you should come to the main office to get a form. Please note, you must be turning 16 by April 18th. Class is $650.00 of which a $150 deposit is due one month prior to the class with the remaining $500 by the first day of class. Checks should be made payable to Dale LaPlante.

 

PTO News:

Parents and students, the PTO would love your printer cartridges!  It is a great money raiser for the school!  Just drop them in the ink cartridge big red drop off box in the lobby.  If you know a business that would like to donate their cartridges, just let the PTO know at  donnaike@metrocast.net. Thanks so much!

 

 BHS PTO meets on the third Thursday of each month at 6 pm in the Guidance office.  We welcome parents to attend anytime their schedule allows, with no commitment required.  Please come join us at the February meeting on Thursday, February 21st at 6 pm in the BHS Guidance office.   If you have any questions or additional thoughts, please contact Donna Iacopucci at donnaike@metrocast.net.

Congratulations to Nikki Miller and Kurt Oberhausen on their acceptances to Lakes Region Community College and to Brian Chapman on his acceptance to Houghton College , to Allyson Haskell on her acceptances to NHTI and Western New Mexico University  and to Madison Van Cleave on her acceptance to Quinnipiac University

 

Seniors,  5 new scholarship opportunities arrived in guidance.  Zonta for Women, NH Charitable Foundation, Fisher Cats Scholar Athlete, Concord Hospital Associates and NHHAS. Check the guidance office frequently or check out the College Bound section of our website to stay current on the latest scholarships and watch DEADLINES!!

 


Music Dept:

Attention Band Students: The fourth payment for the Washington D.C is due no later than February 18. Unless previous arrangements have been made, please make sure that you are up to date with all payments by this time

French Club;

 Will be selling chocolates and Valentines today after school in the main lobby.

 

Winter Carnival Semi Formal Dance Friday, Feb. 15th 8:00-10:00PM. $ 5.00 per person. If you are bringing a guest who does not attend BHS you will need to pick up a permission form in the main office.

 

 NHS will be collecting pennies and any other coins to help patients with Leukemia & Lymphoma.  Pennies for Patients funds research for cures for these blood cancers.  Please help fund cutting edge treatments for these patients. You can find collection boxes in the main, guidance and nurses office.

FBLA:

February 10th-16th is National FBLA Week.  The Future Business Leaders of America will be promoting the opportunities that FBLA offers and some of their accomplishments around the school and in the community.  If you are interested in joining FBLA now or next year, please see a current member or Mr. Hill for more information. 


Can tabs - FBLA will be collecting can tabs throughout the year for David's House.  Students are asking families to set up a collection bag or box at home and periodically bring them in.  The can tabs will be delivered to David's House at the end of March.  Thank you for supporting this great cause!
