Spring Sports Awards Night

Good Afternoon Parents,

With playoffs starting this week and spring sports wrapping up, I wanted to reach out with our Sports Awards date and time so you could put it on what I'm sure are very busy calendars.

The Spring Sports awards for Belmont High School will be on Monday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at BHS. The evening will start in the gym with awards presentations as a group, and then teams will break out into their own individual sessions.

Good Morning Shaker Regional Families and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Matthew Finch has been appointed by the school board as the Principal of Belmont High School. Mr. Finch has experience as as a high school administrator, English teacher, coach, theater director and performer. He begins his new role on July 1st. Progress Reports are now available for viewing on Web2School.   The grades on the progress report are being used to determine athletic eligibility, senior privilege eligibility and are being sent to colleges for seniors, upon request.

Baseball Schedule Change

Good Afternoon Parents,

Thursday's baseball games vs Laconia are moving to tomorrow, 5/22 at their same times and locations. With rain in the forecast and how our field has held up with that rain, we are hoping to avoid any chance of a reschedule or having to play the senior night game at Bryant Field.

BHS Principal Candidate Forum - Tomorrow 5/22

Good Afternoon,

Just a quick reminder that I am hosting a community forum tomorrow, May 22nd, from 6 PM to 8 PM at BHS.  This forum will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions of each candidate and also provide feedback to the search committee. The search committee has selected two finalists to move forward to the forum as the next step in the process. The candidates are Mr. Matthew Finch who is currently the Assistant Principal at Winnisquam Regional High School, Tilton, NH and Mr. Peter Weaver who most recently served as the Assistant Principal at Raymond High School, Raymond, NH. Please let me know if you have any questions.

BHS Prinicpal Search Update

Good Morning,

Here is a quick update on the BHS Principal search process. I have put together a search committee comprised of two administrators, two teachers, two parents, one support staff, and one student. The committee will be interviewing candidates this week in hopes of deciding on two finalists. I appreciate the number of emails I have received from several of you offering to be part of the search process. In order to get as many of you involved as possible, I am hosting a community forum next Wednesday, May 22nd, from 6 PM to 8 PM at BHS. This forum will provide you with an opportunity to ask questions of each candidate and also provide feedback to the search committee. Each candidate will have one hour with the community. The floor will be open for questions. Everyone who attends will get a comment card to fill out with feedback regarding each candidate. The search committee will then review all comments in order to assist in making the final decision.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I hope you are able to attend next Wednesday's forum.

BHS Associate Principal

Good Morning Shaker Regional Families and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Aaron Hayward will be our new Associate Principal at Belmont High School starting July 1st. The Board approved his nomination at last night's meeting. Mr. Hayward has been teaching in our district for 10 years. He has been a coach, department head, and teacher leader. He has also served on our District Support Team for the past three years. He is an aspiring leader who is committed to the success of our school and community. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Hayward in his new role.

Baseball/Softball Postponed

Good Morning Parents,

Today's varsity and JV baseball and varsity softball games vs Winnisquam have been postponed due to poor field conditions from the rain. 

Varsity and JV baseball will be re-scheduled to Thursday, May 16 at 3:15 p.m. 

Varsity softball has still not determined a date yet for the reschedule. That information will be shared as soon as it is available.

Week in Athletics

Good Morning,

Please see the attached document for the weekly athletics schedule. A couple of items of note this week:

1. We will finally have a baseball game at the high school today! Thank you to Ron, Dave, and Jason for all of the work they have done trying to get that field ready to play despite one of the worst springs in memory. 

2. On Saturday, May 18, Belmont will host the Wilderness League meet for varsity track and field. This is a huge event and should provide several great hours of spectating opportunities. The concession stand will be open and the grill will be in service, so come support our track teams in their last home meet of the season.

Baseball/Softball Postponed

Good Morning Parents,

Due to rainfall last night and rain throughout the day today, the baseball and softball games vs Winnisquam have been postponed. This includes both varsity and JV, home and away.

These games will be re-scheduled for Tuesday, May 14 at 4:00.

A decision has not been made yet for our Girls Lacrosse game at Milford. The forecast is more promising for the afternoon in that area. A decision on that game should be made around 12:30 today.

JV Baseball Today

Good Morning,

Due to some scheduling issues with finding umpires for today's game, the JV baseball game vs Laconia will be at 3:30 p.m. at Bryant Field, not 4.

I am sorry for the late change, but it was either move the time or reschedule the game. Finding umpires at this point in the season is incredibly difficult due to all of the reschedules from weather and field issues across the state so we have to make a few compromises to get games in.

Tomorrow's baseball and softball games vs Hillsboro-Deering have been rescheduled to this afternoon to try and avoid the rain forecasted for tomorrow. The games will both start around 4:15, as Hillsboro's bus will a bit late because of the re-schedule.
