* Congratulations to the BHS Golf Team for two huge wins over Kearsarge and Prospect Mountain at Canterbury Woods.  The team fired a season low 175!!  This is the best team performance by a Belmont Team in many years.  The team was lead by freshman duo Caleb Drouin and Mike Sanborn, who shot both shot a 40, only four strokes over par.  This low score also earned them medalist honors for the lowest score in the tournament.  Also scoring for Belmont was senior Brielle Moore 44 and sophomore Brandon Pearl 51.  The team travels to Wakewan on Monday for the Inter-Lakes Classic.

 

 

Drivers Ed:

The Fall/Winter Drivers Ed session will begin on 10/25 and run until 1/3/2013. If you are interested in taking this class please stop by the main office for a sign up form. Please make note that you will need to turn 16 by the end of the class.

Attention all students interested in DRAMA:  Big fall field trip!
Attend the NH Theatre Guild Conference at PSU on Friday, October 19th.  Take workshop classes in acting, costume, set and lighting design.  Write mini plays, make stuff and see a play with Ms. Pitrone, Ms. Fair and Ms. Fountain!  Couldn't be a better day!  To sign up/get a permission slip, see Ms. Pitrone in rm 206.  ANY student interested in drama or who istaking the Theatre class in the spring is welcome to attend.

*COMMON CORE PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT

Common Core Standards have been adopted by NH and all schools must align their curriculum to these new standards of learning. The Interim Superintendent Maria Dreyer and the Director of Curriculum and Assessment Misty McBrierty will be holding a parent informational night at Belmont High School on Monday, October 22nd at 6PM in the library. Parents will be given information about the Common Core Standards and how this will impact their high school student as well as resources and ways a parent can support their child's success at each grade level.

 

* Congratulations to Seniors Brandon Heimlich and Alex Turcotte who are serving in leadership positions at the Winnisquam Agricultural Center FFA Chapter. Brandon is serving as Vice-President and Alex is
serving as Treasurer for the 2012-2013 school year.

 

*Seniors- There will be a college application workshop after school on Wednesday Oct. 3rd. from 2:15 to 3:30. Ms. Seiferth will be in the Computer Lab to help with applications and Ms. Pitrone will be in room 206 to help with college essays. Please plan to take advantage of this opportunity if at all possible.

 

*Seniors-Scholarship Opportunities have begun arriving in the guidance office. There are 3 available that have deadlines at the beginning of October. Check the guidance office regularly and often to avoid missing out on these opportunities.

assisted living facility for mature adults. Looking for students who are 16 years or older

who can assist their staff in caring for these adults. The pay is $8.00 per hour and the

shifts available are Monday-Sunday from 3 or 3:30pm-6:00pm. Interested students can

call 783-9822, leave your name and phone number and the owner will return your call.

Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the US Air Force, is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to training youth (12-18 yrs. old) in the areas of aerospace education, leadership, character development and emergency services, while instilling the values of integrity, volunteer service, excellence and respect. The squadron is also open to adult members interested in air crews, and ground search and rescue teams. The Hawk Composite Squadron, the local squadron will be holding an Open House from 6:30-9:00pm on Thursday, September 27th in the terminal of the Laconia Airport. Anyone interested in joining this organization as either a cadet member or adult member, should attend this meeting. Any questions you may have will be answered, including information regarding flight training and scholarship opportunities. Refreshments will be provided.

assisted living facility for mature adults. Looking for students who are 16 years or older

Girls Lacrossse:

The coaches from JHU are hosting a stick work clinic on Veterans' Day at Exeter High

School.Come learn from the Johns Hopkins Women's Lacrosse coaches! Get the latest

stick work techniques that will help you take your game to the next level. Stick work is

the foundation of the modern women's lacrosse game. Learning these new techniques

will help you playing in the spring. Learn how to develop your offside and how you can

practice with a friend or on your own. Space is limited and this clinic is open to all area

players. The clinic Fee is $50. Registration forms are available on the BHS Girls

Lacrosse website.

 

SALT:

Those participating in this group need to get their photo release forms to Mrs. Gagnon ASAP and no later than tomorrow.

Due to food and beverage being found in the music room it will be closed during break

Congratulations to BHS Seniors Ally Haskell, Kristina Fecteau, and Danielle Huckins, who  are serving as President, Vice President, and Treasurer of the Health Occupations Service Organization (HOSA)Chapter a the the Huot Technical Center. All three are in the second year of the program and plan to enter the Healthcare field.

Senior Yearbook Photos: Please plan to have your Senior Pictures taken as soon as

possible. The deadline for submitting Senior pictures will be November 9th. When you

go to a photographer, make sure to ask that person what the turn-around time is for

photographs and let them know what your deadline is. Let them know they can send a

digital file to Ms. Pitrone @ apitrone@sau80.org. Failure to meet this deadline will mean

that we will be forced to revert to your most current ID photo for publication. Please see

If you order by September 30, you can take advantage of the lowest price, $40. After

News from the Guidance Office:

*Seniors-Scholarship Opportunities have begun arriving in the guidance office. There are 3 available that have deadlines at the beginning of October. Check the guidance office regularly and often to avoid missing out on these opportunities.

 

*Sargeant Doherty from the Army will be in the guidance office on Thursday 9/27 at 9:30am. Interested Juniors and Seniors please sign up in the guidance office to attend.

 

*Calling all juniors! The PSAT will take place on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:30am here at BHS. The sign up sheet is in the guidance office. Cost of the test is $18.00, cash or checks made out to BHS. The money must be paid on test day. If you choose to pay before, please give money to Mrs. O'Connell in guidance. The guidance department encourages ALL juniors to take the PSAT in preparation for the all important SAT's that they will take next spring and fall of your senior year.

 

*On Friday, September 28th at 1:30pm in the guidance office St. Thomas University will have representative here to talk to interested juniors and seniors about their college opportunities.  Interested juniors and seniors should sign up in the guidance office to attend.

 

*Belmont Middle School is in need of a reliable junior or senior student who would be

interested in some community service hours help a young man at the middle school in

their LEGO League. This would take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:45-4pm

at BMS until November. Interested students should see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance.

 

*Civil Air Patrol, the official auxiliary of the US Air Force, is a non-profit, volunteer

organization dedicated to training youth (12-18 yrs. old) in the areas of aerospace

education, leadership, character development and emergency services, while instilling the

values of integrity, volunteer service, excellence and respect. The squadron is also open

to adult members interested in air crews, and ground search and rescue teams. The Hawk

Composite Squadron, the local squadron will be holding an Open House from 6:30-

9:00pm on Thursday, September 27th in the terminal of the Laconia

Airport. Anyone interested in joining this organization as either a cadet member or adult

member, should attend this meeting. Any questions you may have will be answered,

including information regarding flight training and scholarship opportunities.

Refreshments will be provided.

 

* Job Opportunity! Canterbury Hall, located on 353 Baptist Road in Canterbury is a small

assisted living facility for mature adults. Looking for students who are 16 years or older

who can assist their staff in caring for these adults. The pay is $8.00 per hour and the

shifts available are Monday-Sunday from 3 or 3:30pm-6:00pm. Interested students can

call 783-9822, leave your name and phone number and the owner will return your call.

 

Community service opportunity for a high student who is willing to help a 6th grade

boy who is on the golf team at BMS. Student would need to be at BMS on Mondays and

Wednesdays from 3-5:30pm. Interested students should see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance

The coaches from JHU are hosting a stick work clinic on Veterans' Day at Exeter High

School.Come learn from the Johns Hopkins Women's Lacrosse coaches! Get the latest

stick work techniques that will help you take your game to the next level. Stick work is

the foundation of the modern women's lacrosse game. Learning these new techniques

will help you playing in the spring. Learn how to develop your offside and how you can

practice with a friend or on your own. Space is limited and this clinic is open to all area

players. The clinic Fee is $50. Registration forms are available on the BHS Girls

Lacrosse website.
