Candidates Night

Hello,
In light of the fact that there will be no student bulletins this week due to vacation I wanted to let you know that upon our return from vacation we will be holding a candidates night on Tuesday, March 4th from 7:00-9:00PM in the BHS cafe.

This will be an opportunity to see who will be running for Town of Belmont positions as well as positions  on the Shaker Regional School Board.

Drivers Education:

Wednesday night’s drivers education class that was cancelled due to weather will be made up today  afternoon  from 2:30-4:30PM.

 

Granite Girls State:

Any junior girl who is interested in a week-long summer enrichment program at the end of June should come see Ms.Tardugno for details on this program by today . This  is a low-cost way to develop leadership skills, learn about citizenship & government, and help build your college resume.  The application deadline is May 15th.

 

Drivers Education:

 The spring driver’s education class will begin on Tuesday, March 4th and will run until April 17th. If you are interested in signing up for this class please come to the main office to pick up a registration form. Please note you will need to be 16 by the end of the class. Cost is $650 with a $150 deposit which is due when you register for the class. The mandatory student/parent meeting will be held on Monday March 3rd.

Lakes Region Mom Prom is less than a month away!  Where else can you dance to Bon Jovi, Blacked Eyed Peas, and the Bee Gees while raising money for the students of BHS!  $20 pre-sale tickets are on sale at various school events during the coming weeks.  Special delivery of tickets is available by contacting us at momprom.bhspto@gmail.com.  See you on Saturday, March 8!

4. Laconia Adult Education will be offering an SAT Prep Class beginning on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. The classes will meet from 6-9PM for a period of (7) weeks. The Classes are scheduled to end on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. The SAT exam is scheduled to be given on Saturday, May 3rd. The prep class will enable the student to become more familiar with the types of questions that will be asked. The cost of the class is $95.00, which includes the book fee of $20.  To enroll in the SAT Prep Class you should contact Peggy Selig at Laconia Adult Education at 524-5712.

The Belmont High School World Language Clubs are hosting another indoor yard sale this Spring ! The date will be March 8, 2014 from 9a.m.-1p.m. Setup will begin at 7a.m. OR you can come in the previous day and begin an early setup from12p.m.- 2p.m. To have table space, it will cost only $15! Start rummaging through the attic and garage to participate in a fun town event and get a head start on Spring cleaning. This forum is designed to provide motivated students in grades 9-11 with academic and career insights in the fields of technology and engineering through interactive simulations, hands on workshops and informative seminars. If you are an interested student in getting more information about this summer opportunity, please see Mrs. O'Connell in the guidance office by no later than Thursday, Feb. 20th.

NHS is looking for a FEW GOOD MEN.  It is that time of year again to put on Mr. BHS.  This year 8 junior and senior men along with their female escorts will parade around the stage, dancing, showing off formal wear, and prancing in a swimsuit.  Please see Ms. Angwin in the Irish Alcove for an application.

FBLA: Our next meeting will be tomorrow @ 2:20pm in Mr. Hill's room.

NNHEAF is  pleased to offer a FREE SAT Test Prep course during April vacation at their Concord campus.  The course, offered from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23 & 24, covers the three sections of the SAT with an introduction to standardized testing.  This course is open to  high school juniors, but they will cap registration between 20 and 25 participants.  All participants receive the Collegeboard’s SAT book and other take home materials.  Registration is required, please call 1-800-525-2577 ext. 117 by Friday, April 11th.

EARLY DISMISSAL AT 11:00AM TODAY


Annual School District Meeting will take place on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Belmont High School. Polls open at 6:00PM.


Athletics:

No games scheduled today.

 

Lakes Region Girls Softball:

You can register in person tonight from 5:00-06:30PM @ Belmont Elementary School. Girls must be Belmont or Canterbury residents and need to provide proof of residency. If you are a new player you will also need to provide a copy of your birth certificate. . If you would like more info please pick up an informational sheet in the main office.

 

Lakes Region Nursery Guild:

Will be holding their Spring Boutique on April 9-12, 2014. They  have clothing racks, tables, registers and other supplies that need to be unloaded and set up and are looking for any volunteers that need community service hours that could help them  out. They are looking for volunteers for Wednesday April 9, 2014 from 5:30-6:30pm and Saturday April 12, 2014 from 2:30-3:30pm at the Laconia Community Center, Laconia NH. This is a great opportunity for any student in need of community service volunteer hours.

Math Team:

The Belmont Math Team placed second in last nights meet which was held at Laconia High.  The top two scorers were Veronica Harris and Andrew Mozier.  We are looking forward to the State Meet on March 18th which will be held at PSU

 1st Annual Fishing Derby sponsored by FOBF will be held on Feb 15th & 16th on Lake Winnisquam. Ticket sales in advance available at Winnisquam Market & Deli (derby headquarters) or at bait and tackle shops through the Lakes Region. Tickets are $20 per adult and $10 for child 15 years or younger.

1. Seniors, if you have a parent who works for Concord Hospital and you are going to attend college, see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance for a scholarship opportunity.

2. All students hoping to take a Running Start class this semester need to turn their registration forms and payment to Ms. Cascio by tomorrow.

3. Attention Juniors!!  SNHU will be hosting DESTINATION COLLEGE, NH's Statewide Annual College Planning Event this year on April 5th from 7:30am-1:30pm. All of the day's events are FREE to students and parents. Attendees will have access to a variety college planning workshops, student keynote speaker and the opportunity to participate in a scholarship raffle and attend a college fair.  DESTINATION COLLEGE, is a highly recommended event for juniors and their parents by the guidance department. In order to attend you must register on line at www.destinationcollege.org. Walk-ins will not be permitted to attend!! Enrollment is limited to the first 1100 registered students. PLEASE ACT ON THIS ASAP TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT! 

4. NNHEAF is  pleased to offer a FREE SAT Test Prep course during April vacation at their Concord campus.  The course, offered from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, April 23 & 24, covers the three sections of the SAT with an introduction to standardized testing.  This course is open to  high school juniors, but they will cap registration between 20 and 25 participants.  All participants receive the Collegeboard’s SAT book and other take home materials.  Registration is required, please call 1-800-525-2577 ext. 117 by Friday, April 11th.

5. Reminder to all students who plan on making up work or competencies that you must do this by tomorrow.

6. The National Youth Leadership Forum on Careers in Engineering & Technology is being offered this summer at 4 locations in the US. This forum is designed to provide motivated students in grades 9-11 with academic and career insights in the fields of technology and engineering through interactive simulations, hands on workshops and informative seminars. If you are an interested student in getting more information about this summer opportunity, please see Mrs. O'Connell in the guidance office by no later than Thursday, Feb. 20th.

7.Students are reminded to turn their HUOT and Winnisquam Ag applications in to Mrs. O'Connell in the guidance office. Parents must sign your application before turning it in.

The Belmont High School World Language Clubs are hosting another indoor yard sale this Spring ! The date will be March 8, 2014 from 9a.m.-1p.m. Setup will begin at 7a.m. OR you can come in the previous day and begin an early setup from12p.m.- 2p.m. To have table space, it will cost only $15! Start rummaging through the attic and garage to participate in a fun town event and get a head start on Spring cleaning. National Honor Society:

NHS is looking for a FEW GOOD MEN.  It is that time of year again to put on Mr. BHS.  This year 8 junior and senior men along with their female escorts will parade around the stage, dancing, showing off formal wear, and prancing in a swimsuit.  Please see Ms. Angwin in the Irish Alcove for an application.

FBLA:

FBLA members should remember to wear your FBLA shirts tomorrow for the end of FBLA Week.  We will take a photo at the end of Block 4 in the lobby.  If there is no school tomorrow, we will wear our FBLA shirts on Monday instead.

FBLA members going to the State Leadership Conference need to make sure you complete your competitive event materials by next week in order to make the deadlines.  Everyone who has not scheduled time with Mr. Hill to prepare needs to do so today.  Thank you!

 

 Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 18th at 2:20pm in Mr. Hill's room.  All members with competitive event materials due next week need to see Mr. Hill on Monday as well please.  

 

 State Leadership Conference permission forms (2) are due tomorrow. Dress code guidelines are also attached to the SLC forms.

Winter Carnival “Around the World” Semi-formal dance will be held Thursday, Feb 20th from 6:30-9:00PM .Tickets will be sold @ lunches for $10. Food & drinks from a variety of countries will be included in the purchase of your ticket.

Lakes Region Girls Softball:

You can register in person on Thursday, Feb. 12th from 5:00-06:30PM @ Belmont Elementary School. Girls must be Belmont or Canterbury residents and need to provide proof of residency. If you are a new player you will also need to provide a copy of your birth certificate. . If you would like more info please pick up an informational sheet in the main office.


Winter Carnival:

Juniors that are interested in the group dance should report to the French room during break today.

 

Lakes Region Nursery Guild::

Will be holding their Spring Boutique on April 9-12, 2014. They  have clothing racks, tables, registers and other supplies that need to be unloaded and set up and are looking for any volunteers that need community service hours that could help them  out. They are looking for volunteers for Wednesday April 9, 2014 from 5:30-6:30pm and Saturday April 12, 2014 from 2:30-3:30pm at the Laconia Community Center, Laconia NH. This is a great opportunity for any student in need of community service volunteer hours.

Granite Girls State:

Any junior girl who is interested in a week-long summer enrichment program at the end of June should come see Ms.Tardugno for details on this program.  It is a low-cost way to develop leadership skills, learn about citizenship & government, and help build your college resume.  The application deadline is May 15th.

 

Jostens:

Jostens’s ring company will return tomorrow  to pick up order forms from students who would like to place an order. Extra packets with order forms are available to pick up in the main office.

 

Friends of Belmont Football:

 1st Annual Fishing Derby sponsored by FOBF will be held on Feb 15th & 16th on Lake Winnisquam. Ticket sales in advance available at Winnisquam Market & Deli (derby headquarters) or at bait and tackle shops through the Lakes Region. Tickets are $20 per adult and $10 for child 15 years or younger.

 

Drivers Education:

The spring driver’s education class will begin on Tuesday, March 4th and will run until April 17th. If you are interested in signing up for this class please come to the main office to pick up a registration form. Please note you will need to be 16 by the end of the class. Cost is $650 with a $150 deposit which is due when you register for the class. The mandatory student/parent meeting will be held on Monday March 3rd.

1. February 10th-16th is National FBLA Week. The Future Business Leaders of America will be promoting the opportunities that FBLA offers and some of their accomplishments around the school and in the community. If you are interested in joining FBLA now or next year, please see a current member or Mr. Hill for more information.

2.  State Leadership Conference permission forms (2) are due on Friday, February 14th.  Dress code guidelines are also attached to the SLC forms.  Please note that the permission forms are separate from the commitment forms that were signed prior to registration for both events.  In addition, students going to the SLC will need to see Mr. Hill to get their competitive event guidelines and rating sheets.
