Shaker Regional School District Survey

The Shaker Regional School Board is interested in receiving your input on how the district is performing and to determine potential areas for improvement.  Your responses to the survey, being conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, will be kept anonymous and the data will be reported only to the School Board in the aggregate.  If you decide to participate, you may decline to answer any question.  The following link can be accessed through any device with internet access.  The survey will be available through midnight, December 7, 2015.

 

REMINDER:  WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF STUDENTS' PARENT/GUARDIAN PERMISSION SLIPS FOR VIDEO AND AUDIO RECORDING IN CLASSROOMS.  PLEASE BRING SIGNED PERMISSION SLIPS TO THE OFFICE AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE.

 

FRIENDS OF BELMONT FOOTBALL is holding their Annual Christmas Tree Sale at the old Gates Farm on Rt. 106 (just a few doors away from Pike). There are beautiful NH grown trees of all sizes available. You can also pick up your NH made birdseed wreath at the same time. The sale will be open Monday - Friday from about 4:30 - 7:00pm; and on the weekends from about 10:00 am - 7:00pm. Please feel free to check the Friends of Belmont Football Facebook page for any weather-related closings. We look forward to seeing you!

NOVEMBER and DECEMBER COOL SCHOOL BONUS OPPORTUNITIES:

Steeplegate receipts, Facebook and email list = BHS points.

·         Please check out the November & December bonus opportunities.

·         Do you like to read Christmas stories? Would you make a good Mrs. Claus? Consider signing up for an hour or two to help us earn more points.

·         Do you love to wrap? We can sign up for a table.

·         Do you love to sing carols? Would you to perform? Opportunities abound to serenade and entertain holiday shoppers.

·         Food drive donations, Coats for Kids and Toys for Tots also count.

·         Want to be an elf? Pictures with Santa 11/21-12/24

·         Want to help with Pet pictures with Santa?  Mondays 4:30-8 PM

·         Do you like to interact with people?

·         Can you explain the Cool School activities?

UNIFIED BASKETBALL:  Anyone interested in playing Unified Basketball please sign up outside of Mr. Briggs Room, 103. There will be a meeting on Wednesday December 2nd at 2:15 in Room 103 for all students who would like to participate. 

 

HOMEWORK CLUB:  Homework club is cancelled for Thursday, December 3^rd.

 

SALT: There is a SALT Meeting TODAY during the second half of power hour in the gym. There is also a meeting on Thursday 12/3 during the second half of power hour in the gym.

 

MATH TEAM:  Calling all math team members!  It is time to sign up for the December meet.  See Mrs. Delgado in room 209 by Friday if you plan to attend the meet on Dec. 9th.

GUIDANCE:

 

Juniors & Seniors: SAVE THE DATE-Financial Aid Night Wednesday, December 2, 2015 6:30-8pm in the BHS Cafeteria!! Please attend this informative meeting for students and parents of juniors and seniors who are COLLEGE BOUND. Get the answers on your financial aid questions and the all-important FAFSA.  The Federal Student Aid Form for all seniors who are college bound. Guidance Counselors and a member of NHHEAF will be in attendance to answers your questions and guide you through the financial aid process.

ATTENTION SENIORS

 

The guidance department has started to receive scholarship opportunities for you to apply to. The complete listing is in the guidance office and will be updated frequently, it is your responsibility to check it often!! SENIORS: CAP & GOWN MEASUREMENTS WILL BE TAKEN ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2015 FROM 10:30-12:15 IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE. ALL SENIORS WHO ARE MARCHING NEED TO STOP BY DURING THAT TIME TO BE MEASURED FOR A CAP & GOWN. Any questions, see Mrs. O'Connell.

 

On Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 10:30-12:15 in the guidance office you need to stop in and be measured for your cap and gown. THIS IS A MANDATORY EVENT!! ALL SENIORS WHO ARE MARCHING MUST ATTEND!! The whole process should take 5-10 minutes or less. When you come in you need to sign a form and give me your BEST email address and cell phone number so that we can be in touch with when needed. If anyone already knows they have a

conflict for that time on 12/2 PLEASE see me ASAP!!

 

For current seniors, we encourage them to join the day's festivities by giving our keynote speech! Our winning Destination College speechwriter will win a $1000 scholarship!  The web form for entry can be found at http://www.nhheaf.org/index.asp?page=events_dc_speech. All entries are due February 26, 2016. 

 

Destination College, NHEEAF's college planning convention for high school juniors and families, takes place on Saturday, April 2 at Southern New Hampshire University.  This free event features college admissions and financial aid workshops for both students and parents throughout the morning and ends with a college fair (with an expected 70 colleges in attendance!).

As a reminder, the Destination College Speech Contest is also open for high school seniors.   The winning student will share their essay at Destination College with attendees – and win a $1000 scholarship!  Submissions are due Friday, 2/26/16.   We have recently received our first entry!  For more information, click here.

SUBSTITUTE FOOD SERVICE WORKER

 

At times the Food Service Department is in need of substitute workers.  This is a great position with mother's hours. Being able to work in a fast paced/ever changing environment is a plus.  This position will be an on call, as needed position.
