HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

 

Parents:  Report cards were mailed on Wednesday, February 3rd.

 

College AcceptancesCongratulations to George Savageaux on his acceptance to UNH!!

 

Winter CarnivalWinter carnival points will be awarded to the class with the most attendance at any BHS home sporting event. Come support our teams and earn points for your class.  Hockey is Saturday @ 4:15 p.m. at Laconia Ice Arena and Boys Varsity Basketball is Friday night against Farmington. Be loud and have Fun! 

 

Guidance:  Course selection sheets for next year are due in the guidance office from all students in grades 9-11 by Friday, Feb. 12th!!  Students, please be aware that the last day to recover course credit for semester 1 is Friday, February 12th!!

 

Valentine's Fundraiser:  There is a Valentine's fundraiser in the office to help support the Mt. St. Helens & Olympic National Park Trip.  Please see attached document for pictures of the raffle baskets.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.00.  Thank you for your support!

Indoor Track & Field: 
Eleven (11) Belmont HS athletes have qualified for the Division II State Championship to be held this Sunday at Dartmouth College - Kyle Gelinas (1500m), Eli Allman (55m Hurdles), Nick Randos (1500m), Jasmine Syed (600m), Alice Riley (3000m), Ian Remenar (High Jump), River Mathieu (Long Jump), 4x200m Relay (River Mathieu, Colby LeRoux, Eli Allman, Ian Remenar) and 4x800m Relay (Jasmine Syed, Emma Chase, Jessica Hutchinson, Alexus Day).

 

Quebec Trip:  There will be a student meeting on Monday, February 8th at 2:15 in room 205 regarding the Quebec Trip. 

 

SADDStudents Against Deadly Decisions will be meeting after school TODAY at 2:30 in room 106.

 

Lost and FoundThere are several tables in the cafeteria that have Lost and Found items on them.  They will be disposed TODAY if no one claims them.

 

Driver's Ed:     Deposits are due TODAY for the Spring Driver's Ed class.  If your money has not been received by today, Mrs. Laplante will assume you are not taking driver's education with her and your spot will be given to someone on the waiting list.  If you are planning to take the next driver's education class (May), you must sign up soon as spots are filling up.   

 

Winter Carnival Dance:   Any students wishing to bring someone from another school to the Winter Carnival Dance on February 12th, please come to the office for a permission slip. 

 

National French Honor Society:

There will be a meeting for current and new members TODAY at 11:00 in room 205.  The induction ceremony will take place on Thursday, February 11 at 6:00 PM in the BHS library.  Family, friends, and teachers are all invited.

 

Quebec tripThere will be a meeting for students on Monday, February 8 after school in room 205

 

French ClubWe will be celebrating la Chandeleur and Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 9 after school in room 105.  We will make and eat crepes and also have king's cake.

FreshmanAny Freshman interested in group dance and/or lip sync for Winter Carnival, please sign up in room 207.  There will be a planning meeting during the first half of power hour TODAY.

 

Boy's LacrosseThere will be open gym for boy's lacrosse every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. until further notice.

 

Winter Carnival:  The Winter carnival dance is on Friday, February 12th at 7:00 p.m.  It will be held in the BHS Cafeteria and the cost is $5.00 per person.  Winter Carnival points will be awarded to each class based on attendance.  Winter Carnival shirts will be on sale starting February 1st during power hour.  They are $5.00 each.

 

Senior Parents: Now is the time to recognize your senior with an ad in this year's yearbook! Please see Mrs. Hamilton or go to jostens.com to order one by Feb. 15.

Seniors, scholarships are arriving in the guidance office almost daily! Many new ones include Skrungloo Farm, Hood Good Sportsmanship, New England Newspapers (Journalism scholarship), Maurice Fortin Memorial, Nursing Schools Alamanc and Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation!! These scholarships are TIME SENSITIVE!! Yearbook: Baby Pictures for the Yearbook AND the Senior Slideshow are due by Friday, February 19. Please submit them to Mrs. Hamilton, either electronically (khamilton@sau80.org) or hard copy (Room 210). Please label all submissions with student's name.

 

Recognition/Parent Ads are due Monday, February 15. You can order directly online by clicking here. If you do not want to order online, you will be able to order directly through Mrs. Hamilton. Look for a second email later this week with detailed directions for ordering recognition ads.

 

Guidance:

 

Summer College Sessions and Camp Opportunities are now being offered to high school students.  If you are interested in learning more about them, stop by the School Counseling Office to pick up flyers and brochures.  Some opportunities have a March application deadline – so act fast!

 

Destination College:  Just a reminder our Destination College Speech Contest is now open, and entries are due Friday, February 26th.  High school seniors are encouraged to submit a 3 to 5 minute speech about his or her path to college and navigating the college admissions process.  The winner will win a $1,000 scholarship and will deliver our keynote address at the 17th Annual Destination College event onSaturday, 4/2/16 at Southern New Hampshire University.

Where:  Due to Winter Carnival activities, the Career Power Hour for Pilot/Mechanic is now going to be at 11:20am in Mr. McDonald's classroom.  The catered lunch sign up is in Guidance.

 

Sign up today for the free catered lunch!  Come to guidance during Career Power Hour to learn more about the aviation world and the Automotive Tuning industry!  Pick up some helpful career advice as well as some trinkets and even your own Balsa Wood (build-yourself) airplane kit!

 

Juniors:  Our 2016 Destination College event will be held at Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Registration for this free college planning event for high school juniors and parents will open this Friday, February 5, 2016You must pre-register to attend!!
