FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL PACKET:

YOUR CHILD IS COMING HOME WITH A PACKET OF FORMS PLEASE FILL OUT AND SEND BACK TO THE SCHOOL ASAP.  HOLD ONTO THE PICTURE DAY FORM UNTIL PICTURE DAY 9/15.

 

FRESHMEN & SOPHMORE PARENTS:

 

On Wednesday during Power Hour Freshmen and Sophomores who have turned in their device expectation sheets and insurance money will be able to pick up their Chrome books in the library.

 

Beginning Thursday, students who did not turn in their device expectation sheets and money will have access to their Chrome books only during school hours. They will need to sign these out and return them to the library each day. 

 

We really appreciate your patience as we work to get these devices into the hands of our students. If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please do not hesitate to reach out!

GUIDANCE

Juniors & Seniors along with your parents are invited to "College Planning Night" on Thursday, September 8th from 6:30-8pm in the BHS library. Vital information for juniors, seniors and their parents on the college application process, the BHS timeline and procedures for the how's/who's/why's of applying to college from BHS.

 

The SAT registration deadline for the October SAT is Thursday 9/1/2016!! Deadline for the November SAT is October 7th.  Registration deadline for the October 22nd ACT is September 16th.

 

Parents of sophomores and juniors, please check with your student to see if they have signed up for the October 19th PSAT. There is a $15.00 test fee. You can send in cash or a check made out to BHS. Test fees will be accepted in the guidance office until October 19th. 

 

Parents of Students in English 12 Honors, AP English, Computer Graphics I or II, Spanish 3,  or French 3 this semester: These classes can be taken as a Running Start class, for college credit! On Wednesday, your student was given an information packet and registration form! Please make sure and check in with him/her about this! Running Start courses only cost $150 and earn students the same credit that would cost them $600-$1500 or more when they go to college, and your student could leave high school with a transcript from LRCC. Students must have their signed registration form and payment turned in to Ms. Haubrich no later than September 21st! Don't miss out!

Ø  The Varsity Boys won their game on Thursday vs Berlin 2-0 on goals by Corey Derosier and Ryan Gelinas. Both goals were assisted by Logan Wilder. Belmont had 30 shots on goal and 16 corner kicks. Jonny LeClair finished the day with 2 saves in goal to preserve the shutout. Up next: @Franklin on Tuesday at 4:00

Ø  The Varsity and JV Volleyball teams both had a win on Friday.  Congrats to all.  Up next:  Wednesday home Vs. Winnisquam.

School-to-Career - If interested, please sign up with Ms. Burke in the School Counseling Office for the following field trips:

*  9/16 - UNH Ocean Discovery Day - talk to scientists, operate an ROV in the deep water tank, learn about ocean mapping, ocean acoustics and check out the 3D visualization lab. Students will get their hands wet while exploring our eco systems and touching live sea creatures

*9/22 - NH Construction Career Day - this day brings students together with the Construction & Transportation Industries to explore career options through hands-on activities.

 

 

 

SHAKER REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT SEEKS ADVISORY BUDGET COMMITTEE                                                MEMBERS

 

The Shaker Regional School District is seeking community members to serve on the Advisory Budget Committee.  The board will select 3 members from Belmont and 3 members from Canterbury to serve on this committee at its September 13 board meeting.  All members must be registered voters for the town in which they are serving.  To review the charge of the committee and to complete a Notice of Interest to serve on the committee please visit the district website at www.sau80.org or contact Debbie Thompson, Business Administrator at dthompson@sau80.org or 267-9223 ext. 5303.  The deadline to submit the Notice of Interest will be September 9, 2016. 

 

KITCHEN MANAGER/COOK – BELMONT HIGH SCHOOL

 

Shaker Regional Food Service is seeking a Manager/Cook for Belmont High School.  Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and have good organization and record keeping skills.  Management/Supervisory experience preferred.  Experience with commercial cooking equipment, inventory control, sanitation, and quantity cooking required.  Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.  This position is 7.5 hours per day for 185 days:  180 school days plus 2 additional days as assigned and 3 paid holidays.  This position qualifies for District-sponsored benefits including health, dental, life and long term disability insurance as well as paid holidays and sick days.  Participation in the NH Retirement System is required.  Must maintain compliance with NH DOE Bureau of Nutrition professional development requirements.
