Transportation Policy Update

Good Morning Parents,

It's time for another email on everyone's favorite topic; Travel release forms!!

The SAU has recently updated the travel forms that we have been using as a district, so this email will help explain how those forms are used for athletics purposes. The good news is it should mean fewer forms to fill out for those of you that have been bringing your own student-athletes home.

There are now two different forms that will be used for when you have a student-athlete that will not take the school transportation home. The first is the parent driver permission form. This is the form that you will use if you, as the parent/guardian, would like to bring your student-athlete home. This form only needs to be filed with the athletics office once. Please make sure you include all of the requested information, and have your student-athlete hand in the form at school. A list will then be made of student-athletes that have permission to ride home from an event with their parent, which the coaches will have. Again, this form only gives permission for the parent/guardian to drive their student-athlete home.

If you would like to give another parent/guardian permission to bring your student-athlete home, please fill out the form we used during the fall season, the student-passenger form. This form gives your student-athlete permission to ride home with someone other than their primary parent/guardian. This can not be used to give other students permission to drive. This form must be handed in any time your student will ride home with someone other than their parent/guardian.

As I mentioned in the fall, please keep in mind that the spirit of this exception is really intended for family events that a student-athlete would be going to and not to get home faster or go to plans with friends. As our policy states in the first line, the expectation is that student-athletes will ride school transportation to and from events.

I have attached both forms to this email, as well as linked both forms to our website (where you can print them anytime)  in this email.

As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding this policy, or if you'd like to set up a time to discuss it further.
