SPORTS NEWS:

Great job by the Boys and Girls Cross-Country Teams Saturday at the D3 State Meet. The Girls team finished 10th, lead by Alice Riley's 1st place finish (19:56.9), her third victory of the season.  Alexus Day placed 25th (21:56.1), Makayla Palmer 33rd (22:27.7), Betsey Lowe 110th (26:10.7), Abby Camire 140th (29:48.2), and Taylor Yelle 152nd (33:09.6) rounded out the scoring.  The Boys team placed 8th, their best finish since winning the state title in 2009.  Ian Remenar lead the way in 11th (17:13.5) followed by Nick Randos 20th (17:41.5), Isaiah Knowlton 46th (18:41.8), Connor Jackson 88th (19:35.3), Aidan Rupp 89th (19:37.6), Adam Sojka 139th (21:21.0).  Great Job all!  Good Luck to Alice, Ian and Nick as they move on to next Saturday's Meet of Champions in Nashua.

Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Soccer Team on their win over Gilford 1-0 in the Division III Quarterfinal game. Tallying the only goal was Logan Wilder who delivered on a free kick just outside the 18, hitting an absolute laser beam past the keeper. Belmont was led defensively by Corey Derosier, Tyler Fleming, Chris Marden and Caleb Burke. Jonny LeClair was outstanding in net finishing the day with 8 saves. Doug Price and River Mathieu had solid games in the middle of the field. Zach Ennis and Griffen Embree, along with Nick Mackes and Eli Allmen played very well on the outside mids. The boys will play Wednesday night at Laconia High School at 4:00 in the Division III Semi Finals.

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Soccer Team on their exciting win over Hopkinton 4-3 on Saturday in the Division III Quarterfinal game. Scoring for Belmont was Katie Gagnon on a shot just outside the 18 and hitting the crossbar down for the goal, followed by Hannah Shirley's header inside the 6 to make 2-0 at the half. Hopkinton would answer with two quick goals and then late in the game Hopkinton would break through for the go ahead goal. With about 5 minutes left in the game Belmont would get a throw-in deep in Hopkinton's half and the ball would be sent toward the goal where Kelsey Scott hit a scissor kick and blasted it past the keeper. Then in dramatic fashion as time ran out a long ball sent into the box and toward the far post found the foot of Katie Gagnon for the game winner. Outstanding goal keeping by Moriah Watson who made a very important save late in the game to keep Belmont in reach. The girls will play Tuesday night at Laconia High School at 4:00 in the Division III Semi Finals.

The Shaker Regional School District health promotion initiative is centered around our students' water consumption and the health benefits associated with appropriate water intake. We will be focusing our efforts with age appropriate education and role modeling water consumption to all of our students.  We will initiate this by placing a water bottle in every student and faculty member's hand, which can be used at the schools' water refill stations, and following through with health promotion education in all four Shaker Regional School District schools.

You can only vote once. Please share the contest with family and friends on Facebook. We are competing against area schools so every vote counts. Thank you for your support! Contest goes from 10/4-11/18.
