Digital Threat at BHS

9/13/19

Good morning, Belmont High School Community,

This morning, our main office was contacted by the Belmont Police Department to inform us that they were responding to a digital threat of violence that alluded to our school campus. While we are unable to comment on the specifics of the report, know that the scenario is being addressed accordingly. By the time the call had been received, the Belmont PD had already begun the processes of responding to the report, and it was not being deemed a credible threat against our campus, faculty/staff, or students.

We have fully cooperated this morning with the department, and they have assured us that through their response and investigation, they have concluded that our campus remains a safe environment for all individuals.

Parents and families have the greatest influence and impact on children, and we encourage you to have open and frequent conversations with them about social media and the importance of sharing any concerns with adults. It is, after all, a collaborative effort to ensure that our community remains safe.

We would like to express our gratitude to our local officers who so immediately and thoroughly investigated all elements of this situation and who contribute to our safe and secure learning environment.

Thank you,

Mr. Matthew Finch

Principal, Belmont High School
