Important: 2019 BHS Homecoming Info and Reminders

9/26/19

Re: Belmont High School Homecoming, 2019

Good afternoon, BHS community!

We have an exciting two days scheduled to wrap up our Spirit Week at the high school! Tomorrow is Unity Day, an event organized by the Belmont High School Student Council. It is a fun celebration of togetherness, collaboration, and our learning community as a whole. After academic courses (and lunch periods) have concluded for the day, homerooms will partner up in some friendly competition and bonding in various locations on campus. Then, tomorrow evening is the annual Homecoming bonfire - complete with an outdoor DJ and dance! Saturday, of course, is one of the most highly anticipated days on the high school calendar as many of our Fall sports teams are in action, representing Belmont and Canterbury in athletic competition!

I wanted to share some general information/reminders with you to make sure everyone interested in participating in the fun is ready to go:

Important Reminder: Attendance on 9/27

Please remember that students need to be in attendance throughout the day on 9/27 to be eligible to participate in the dance/bonfire that evening - as well as in the Homecoming activities on Saturday. Students who have Senior Privilege may still take advantage of that allowance, but students will sixth period privilege need to return for their fifth period class thereafter (they may certainly choose to not take their privilege tomorrow and remain at school, but they may leave for that priv period if they elect to do so). Additionally, students must remain at school throughout the day (again, unless taking their privilege block) if they are to be allowed into the dance or to participate in Homecoming events on Saturday (including our student-athletes). Of course, if a student has a scheduled appointment (doctor, dentist, etc.), he/she may be dismissed to that location; if the student then wishes to attend the bonfire/dance and/or Homecoming events on Saturday, he/she will need to bring a doctor's note with them (administration will be in attendance with copies of the daily attendance to check students in) that would allow the dismissal/absence to be 'excused.'

Bonfire/Dance, 9/27 from 7-9:30 - $7 admission fee:

I've heard a great deal about this event since I arrived at BHS, and I'm very excited to see the festivities in person! Please remember that, unless the procedure (and paperwork) to allow an outside guest has been followed and approved by administration, this event is for Belmont High School students only. The Belmont Fire Department will be on hand to ensure that safety precautions are taken throughout the evening, and I'm sure that everyone in attendance will have a great time!

9/27 and 9/28 Homecoming Events:

Through the day on Saturday, clubs, activities, and graduating classes will be at the high school to celebrate our school community...and maybe make a few bucks through fundraising efforts. I hear there will be a great amount and variety of foods available - so bring along some extra spending money and a healthy appetite! Other, non-food related, fundraising will take place on Saturday as well.

9/27:

  • Not much home in this Homecoming event, but the Gilford-Belmont football team will travel to face a tough Bow team for a 7:00pm kickoff. Good luck, gentlemen!

9/28:

  • All four soccer teams will be in action, hosting Gilford!

    • The first game of the day features our Girls' JV squad, leading things off at 9:30am!

    • Girls Varsity Soccer then takes the field to face Gilford at 11:00am.

    • At 1:00pm, the boys' program takes on Gilford to round out the day of action on the pitch!

  • Then it's our volleyball program's turn to take center stage in the BHS Gymnasium! Both JV and Varsity groups will take on Moultonborough with the first match (JV) beginning at 1:45pm and the second (Varsity) at 3:00pm.

This is a fun and exciting slate of Homecoming activities, so please join us for a great two days of celebrating our school, the towns we represent, and the students of BHS! I'll see you there!

Go Belmont!
