Athletics:

Girls Varsity Soccer @ home vs Hopkinton 4:00PM

Girls JV Soccer  @ home vs Hopkinton – 5:30PM

 

Congratulations to senior Brielle Moore for firing an 89 at the New Hampshire State Golf Tournament at Campbell's Scottish Highlands.  Brielle finished in 8th place overall out of all the girls playing New Hampshire High School Golf.  Well Done Brielle!

 

Outstanding performance by the BHS Golf Team at the Inter Lakes Invitational yesterday at Waukewan.  The team surprised everyone and finished an amazing fourth place out of thirteen teams.  The team just missed the hardware by six points!  Senior Captain Brielle Moore scored 43 points, putting her in the top five of over 100 (mostly boy) golfers.Great job Brielle and team.

Drivers Ed:

The Fall/Winter Drivers Ed session will begin on 10/25 and run until 1/3/2013. If you are interested in taking this class please stop by the main office for a form. Please make note that you will need to turn 16 by the time the class ends.

Next meeting will be Wednesday, October 3rd at 2:20pm in Mr. Hill's room.

Drama:

Attention all students interested in DRAMA:  Big fall field trip!
Attend the NH Theatre Guild Conference at PSU on Friday, October 19th.  Take workshop classes in acting, costume, set and lighting design.  Write mini plays, make stuff and see a play with Ms. Pitrone, Ms. Fair and Ms. Fountain!  Couldn't be a better day!  To sign up/get a permission slip, see Ms. Pitrone in rm 206.  ANY student interested in drama or who is taking the Theatre class in the spring is welcome to attend.

 

Math Team:

Math Team members planning to go to the meet on Oct. 10th, need to sign up in Room 112 as soon as possible.

 

Spanish Club:

*Spanish club meeting tomorrow , 2:15 to 3:15, room 105.   We will be planning activities for exchange students arriving Oct. 12 and electing officers. Open to all present, future and past Spanish students not just exchange students. 

 

French Club:

Any students who applied to travel to Quebec this year should go to see Madame ASAP

 

News from the Guidance Office:

*Math tutor for middle school student needed. Student must have strong math skills and be able to devote two afternoons a week to tutor. Parents are willing to pay. Please see Mrs. O'Connell is guidance if you are interested.

 

Common Core Standards have been adopted by NH and all schools must align their curriculum to these new standards of learning. The Interim Superintendent Maria Dreyer and the Director of Curriculum and Assessment Misty McBrierty will be holding a parent informational night at Belmont High School on Monday, October 22nd at 6PM in the library. Parents will be given information about the Common Core Standards and how this will impact their high school student as well as resources and ways a parent can support their child's success at each grade level.

 

* Stonehill College will have a representative here on Thursday, 10/4 at 11:45am in the guidance office. Interested seniors should sign up in the guidance office to attend.

 

Seniors- There will be a college application workshop after school tomorrow, from 2:15 to 3:30. Ms. Seiferth will be in the Computer Lab to help with applications and Ms. Pitrone will be in room 206 to help with college essays. Please plan to take advantage of this opportunity if at all possible.

 

 

Calling all juniors! The PSAT will take place on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:30am here at BHS. The sign up sheet is in the guidance office. Cost of the test is $18.00, cash or checks made out to BHS. The money must be paid on test day. If you choose to pay before, please give money to Mrs. O'Connell in guidance. The guidance department encourages ALL juniors to take the PSAT in preparation for the all important SAT's that they will take next spring and fall of your senior year.

 

* SAT's:

Last day to register for 11/3 SAT's is Thurs. Oct 4th.

 

* Job Opportunity! Canterbury Hall, located on 353 Baptist Road in Canterbury is a small

assisted living facility for mature adults. Looking for students who are 16 years or older

who can assist their staff in caring for these adults. The pay is $8.00 per hour and the

shifts available are Monday-Sunday from 3 or 3:30pm-6:00pm. Interested students can

call 783-9822, leave your name and phone number and the owner will return your call.

 1st term progress reports will be mailed today.
