Meet of Champions:
Congratulations to Angelo Palmer for competing in yesterday's NHIAA Meet of Champions and qualifying for the New Hampshire State Team that will compete in the Eastern High School Championships this weekend at Cannon Mountain. This is a great accomplishment for Angelo and Belmont Skiing. Great job!
Swim Team:
A huge good luck goes out to Antony Hubbard who will be competing in the NE Swimming Age Group Championship at MIT in Cambridge MA tomorrow.
Spring Sports Sign ups:
Sign up sheets for spring sports are located on the gym doors .
Girls Basketball:
Chaleigh Cadarette and Meagan Bailey please return your basketball uniform to Mr. Acquilano.
Boys Lacrosse:
Meeting today at 3:00PM in caf.
Boys Baseball:
Anyone interested in playing baseball, there is a meeting on Tuesday 3/12 at 2:35 in room 210. Sign ups, Tryouts/ practice schedule will be discussed.
Winter Sports Awards:
Will be held on Wednesday, March 13th at 6:00PM in the BHS gym.
Dodge Ball:
The gym will be open after school from 2:15-3:15PM today for any student or faculty member interested in playing dodgeball.
Girls Lacrosse:
Open gym for all high school girls interested in playing lacrosse is in the Belmont Middle School gym from 4:30-6:00 PM, this Saturday, March 9th. Sticks and goggles are available for use.
Open gym for all high school girls interested in playing lacrosse on Saturday , March 16th & 23rd at Belmont High School gym from 4:30-7:00 PM. Sticks and goggles are available for use.
NorEasters Softball:
The Nor'Easter Softball Club will be conducting tryouts for their 12U and 16U teams at the Laconia High School Gym on Sunday, March 10th, 2013. 12U players will start at 2pm and 16U players at 3 pm.
The 12U team is tentatively scheduled to compete in (3) NH Tournaments beginning in mid-July and the 16U team in (5) NH and (1) Maine tournament beginning in mid-June. Both teams will conclude with the Nor'Easter Classic, which is scheduled for July 26 – 28.
The Nor'Easter Softball Club is Lakes Region based and affiliated with ASA. A players age is based on their age on December 31st, 2012.
A parent or guardian is required to accompany their daughter for tryout.
Parents can go to www.noreastersoftball.org to find all the necessary registration and emergency information forms to be filled out prior to workout. Parents must also provide a copy of their daughter's birth certificate. Tryout fee is $15.

Childfind Clinic:
Are you concerned about your child's development? Do you suspect that your child may have a disability ?
Shaker Regional School District will be holding a "Child Find Clinic" on Tues., March 19th at Canterbury Elementary School from 1:00-3:00PM for children age birth through 6 years old. Certified staff will screen students for possible learning disabilities, speech and language disabilities, motor skills, and overall development functioning. The clinic is open to any resident of Belmont or Canterbury, but APPOINTEMENTS ARE REQUIRED. Please contact the SAU office at 267-9222 for additional information or to make an appointment.
Internet and Social Media Information Meeting:
Internet safety is a shared responsibility between the public, the Internet industry, and the legal community. However, parents remain the "first line of defense" in protecting their children against Internet dangers. Please come and join the Belmont Police Department and Detective Michael Cassidy of the Concord Police Computer Crimes Unit on March 13th at 6:00PM in the BHS cafeteria for an informational meeting on Social Media and the Internet.
PTO News:
The BHS PTO is looking for parents who would be interested in joining our new PTO group! Membership has no commitment and does not require attendance at meetings. It is also free to join! As a member, the BHS PTO will notify you about upcoming events of interest, speakers and programs, fundraisers, volunteering opportunities and much more. Reminder to seniors: Lakes Region Board of Realtors Scholarship applications are due in the guidance office no later than Friday, 3/15. The Maurice Fortin Memorial Fund application due in the guidance office no later than Friday, 4/5. Lakes Region Scholarship and John Mullen Scholarship applications are due on Monday, 4/15. It is your responsibility to get your application package to Lakes Region Scholarship on time!! They do not give exceptions for late applications.
LRCC is pleased to announce they will be continuing the Summer Scholars Program again this year. This highly successful program is supported through the generosity of LRGHealthcare, provides a FREE college Anatomy and Physiology I course to a select group of talented high school students interested in a career in the field of healthcare. This course will allow students to earn four college credits which are transferable to UNH, PSU, Keene and other state colleges and universities. Not only will students have the opportunity to experience course fundamentals to prepare them for many health careers, the will also be provided with information about the range of health careers open to them and the educational requirements of each. This course will be offered over a 6 week period from June 24 to July 30 on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 2:55pm, with a break the week of July 1st. Interested students should pick up an application in guidance. Deadline to apply is April 5th. Interested students must have taken Algebra I and biology and successfully passed.
Laconia Adult Education is offering an SAT(College Board) Prep Class beginning on Wednesday, March 13th. The SAT Prep Class will meet from 6-9PM for a period of 7 weeks. The SAT Prep class is scheduled to end on Wednesday, May 1st. The cost of the course is $95.00 which includes the $20.00 book fee. Interested students should contact Peggy Selig, Director of Laconia Adult Education 524-5712. The SAT Prep Classes will be held in Room#G-7 & 224 at Laconia High School.
The Sign Language Interpretation Program at the UNH-Manchester Campus would like to invite juniors and seniors to their Open House on Tuesday, March 26th at 3PM. Registration is required. The Sign Language Interpretation Program at UNH is the first accredited interpreting program in the US, is one of only three bachelor's degree progams in New England and is one of only 13 accredited interpreting programs in the country.
The Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth is offering a summer education program for students interested in entering a variety of health-oriented professions. The summer program is a week long intense, educational and fun filled week. There are several dates available in July and August for interested students. For more information and to apply go tohttp://tdi.dartmouth.edu/hcid. Applications are due April 1st and the cost for one week is$1350.00, scholarships are available.
Are you a student in grades 9-11 who is interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math & Manufacturing? If so, the Huot Tech Center would like to invite you to a Career Panel Discussion with local professional in those fields. This field trip will take place on Friday, March 15th from 10:10-12:30. Please sign up in the guidance office if your are interested and pick up a permission slip to attend. Students will be taking a bus to Huot and it's FREE!!
Financial Aid Packages:
Reminder to seniors that most colleges (UNH, Keene, PSU to name a few) will be sending their financial packages through the accepted student portal. You are reminded to check your financial aid status using each of your accounts, many colleges do not MAIL financial packages through US mail. Any questions see guidance.
Seniors:
Tomorrow , all seniors will be participating in the National Educaiton Assessment Project testing. This is a MANDATORY test which will last for about one hour. Students will be called from their block 2/3 classes on Thursday and directed to their testing rooms at that time.
Lakes Region Manufacturing Week, March 11-15
Belknap EDC welcomes the Lakes Region community to explore the world of advanced manufacturing during the first annual Lakes Region Manufacturing Week, March 11-15. The week features tours and open house events at eight manufacturing facilities throughout the region. In addition, Lakes Region Community College will host an information session for the community to learn more about their new advanced manufacturing certificate and degree programs. The Huot Technical Center's Manufacturing & Pre-Engineering Program will also host an open house for anyone interested in learning about their unique four-year high school program that prepares students for careers in high-tech fields.

Red Cross Blood Drive: Any 16 year old interested in giving blood during our annual Red Cross Blood Drive must have a permission slip filled out ahead of time. See Ms. Angwin in the Irish Alcove to obtain said document.

Spanish Club:
Travel for Teens is pleased to announce that a student at Belmont High School could win a totally free trip to Italy this summer in the 4th Annual International Friendship Contest! The winning student will travel, all expenses paid, on our Cinque Terre Community Service trip.

FBLA:
Tomorrow, Allison Wallace will be making a presentation about the Plymouth State University Sales Training Program in Mr. HIll's room during Blocks 1 and 2/3. If any other students are interested in hearing about the program, please see Mr. Hill and get permission from your teacher to attend.
Can tabs - FBLA will be collecting can tabs throughout the year for David's House. Students are asking families to set up a collection bag or box at home and periodically bring them in. The can tabs will be delivered to David's House at the end of March. Thank you for supporting this great cause!
