The Shaker Regional School District is undergoing a thorough evaluation of our K-12 Comprehensive Guidance Program. Belmont High School Open House:
Please mark your calendar now for our Open House which will be held on Wednesday, Sept 25th from 6:00-8:00PM. Please note this is a date change from Sept 26th.
Homework Club:
Will be moved to the Computer Lab today instead of the library. Homework Club will be offered from 2:15-3:15PM.
Flu Clinic:

Portrait Day:

Student portraits will be taken today beginning at 7:20AM. Huot students will be going first then all other grades will be called down to the gym over the PA. All students will need to have their photo taken regardless if they are purchasing a photo package. The picture form was sent home on the first day of school. If you have misplaced it, you can pick up one in the main office. Payment and form must be given to the photographer . Please DO NOT pass into the main office.
The BHS PTO:
Cordially invites you to attend our first meeting of the 2013-2014 school year. No commitment is necessary to join us for an evening to learn more about the PTO and what we are working on. We are always looking for input and suggestions from our students and parents. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday,September 19th, at 6 pm in the BHS Guidance Office Conference Room. Yearbook:
Buy your yearbook today and save! If you would like to take advantage of the back-to school pricing, you must order and fully pay for your yearbook before tomorrow . The sale price is $43 but, after the 13th, the price goes up to $47. See Ms. Pitrone in room 206 for details or visit a yearbook staff member during lunch in room 106.
The 4th Annual Fox Trot 6K trail race/walk:
Will take place on September 21 at 10:00 am at 164 Briar Bush Road in Canterbury. The race was created to help support Lakes Region Families, and for the last 2 years has awarded 4 scholarships to deserving high school graduates continuing their education in the health/service fields. To register goto www.coolrunning.com orwww.shakerfund.org. Walk-in registration begins at 8 am. The price includes a t shirt and BBQ/Pig Roast. Fox Country Smokehouse is also hosting their Second Annual Customer Appreciation Day and will be offering samples of smoke house goodies for all. Guidance Office:
1. The guidance department will be holding a College Mini-Fair tomorrow from 9:20-10:20 in the cafeteria, all juniors and seniors are welcome to attend. A list of colleges in attendance is posted on the guidance bulletin board.
2. Lesley University will be in guidance on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 10:15AM. Interested juniors and seniors must sign up in the guidance office to get a pass to attend.
3. NHHEAF is sponsoring future college athlete nights that can help parents and students prepare for college athletic participation. A panel of experts will be on hand to discuss NCAA eligibility, recruitment, self marketing and other issues. The first of these nights will be held at Mascoma High School tomorrow night at 6PM. Pre-registration is required by calling Jay Hauser at 1-888-7-graduate ext. 441 or email him at jhauser@nhheaf.org.
4. Careers in Medicine, A National Youth Leadership Forum will be held next Summer in 13 different US cities. If you are student with demonstrated leadership potential and an interest in medicine who may be interested in getting more information about attending this forum, please see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance by Sept. 19th.
5. Running Start Program: Applications are due to Guidance by September 16th for Graphic Arts students, and on September 25th for English or Math students. Please attach a check for $150, and another for $20 if you are taking the Accuplacer test. The Accuplacer is scheduled for September 25th.You must take this test if you wish to take a Running Start class in English or Math.
6. Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation:
Is sponsoring their annual Spelling Bee on October 17th. Please see Ms. Cascio in Guidance if you are interested in being on our BHS team.
7. Web2school usernames and passwords have been set up for the freshmen class and the new transfer students that started with BHS on 8/26. Please see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance for your information. Parents can email Mrs. O'Connell at coconnell@sau80.org for their information.
8. Laconia Adult Education is offering an SAT College Board Prep Class. The class begins on Wednesday, Sept. 25th. It will meet from 6-9pm for a total of seven (7) weeks, at Laconia High School. Cost of the class and book fee is $95.00. Please see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance for registration information.
9. Attention Seniors! The first scholarship opportunity of the season is available. The Wendy's High School Heisman Scholarship is open to seniors with a GPA of 3.0 (87 or better) that participate in at least one sport and have community/school service. Application deadline isOctober 2nd!! Apply on line at wendysheisman.com.

Next meeting is Monday, Sept 16th at 2:15. Be prepared to present your sub-committee's research at that time.
Robotics Club:
The BHS Robotics club is up and running again, join the team in Mr. Deshaies's Rm 209 on Monday the 16th. It is a great program for girls and boys of all ages interested in technology, engineering, mechanics, and programming
FBLA:
Is once again collecting can tabs for David's House throughout the year. Can tabs can be turned in to any FBLA member or Mr. Hill. Thank you!
Spanish Club:
It's that time of year again, for what, you may ask. Fundraising opportunities, of course, are available for you to help yourself. Don't have a job and may be planning ahead for possible international travel, the prom, sports equipment, band or senior trip? If you considered any of these expenses, sign up in room 105. NHMS parking on Sun. Sept. 22. See seƱora for details.
Fingerprinting:
Anyone who volunteers in the Shaker Regional School District must complete the background check, which includes fingerprinting, prior to the beginning of any volunteer event or activity. If you have been fingerprinted in a previous year, you will NOT need to be printed. Please note that it takes up to four weeks for the fingerprints to be processed. Volunteers cannot begin until the background check is completed. You will need to bring a photo ID with you – fingerprinting will not be able to be done without proper identification. New affidavits will need to be signed each year.
