Athletics:

Golf Team:

The BHS Golf Team had a solid performance at Canterbury Woods on Wednesday, shooting 192 team score.  The team lost to Bow and Gilford, but scored a win over Prospect Mountain.  Scoring for the team were sophomore Caleb Drouin (45), junior Brandon Pearl (45), sophomore Mike Sanborn (45), and freshman Nicole Antonucci (57).

 

XCountry Meet:

Congratulations go to the Cross-Country team for their performances at last night's meet, held at the Sanbornton Town Park.  The girls were paced by Talia Sperduto, placing 3rd in a time of 25:06, followed by Carol Lipshultz and Sabrina Robinson.  The boys were lead by Ian Rupp, placing 5th in a time of 20:37, followed by Tyler Rolfe, Riley Woods, Nikolai Fernandez, Brennan Malone, and Isaiah Knowlton.  4 prs, and 3 seasonal prs were set at the meet.  Nice job team!

 

Booster Club:

First meeting of the new school year will be  on Tuesday September 10, at 6:30 PM in the BHS cafe.  Anyone interested in supporting our athletes is welcome to attend.  Come and see what we are all about.  See you there.

 

Belmont High School Open House:

Please mark your calendar now for our Open House which will be held on Wednesday, Sept 25th from 6:00-8:00PM. Please note this is a date change from Sept 26th.

 

Flu Clinic:

 Belmont High School is pleased to offer a free flu shot clinic for students on Wednesday, September 25th  12:45-2.  Information and consent forms will be sent home with students September 5th. Consent forms are due back by Sept 13.  Please contact Sue Rubbe, RN school nurse, if you have any questions.  srubbe@sau80.org  267-6525 ext 321

 

Portrait Day:

 Thursday, Sept 12th. If you would like to have your picture taken, please bring in your form that you received on the first day of school along with payment.

 

Guidance Office:

1. College Information Night for juniors, seniors and their parents will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 6:30PM in the cafeteria.

 

2. The guidance department will be holding a College Mini-Fair on Friday Sept. 13th from 9:20-10:20 in the cafeteria, all juniors and seniors are welcome to attend. A list of colleges in attendance is posted on the guidance bulletin board.

 

3. Seniors, last day to register for the October SAT's is today .  You can register on line at collegeboard.org

 

4. Lesley University will be in guidance on Tuesday, Sept. 17th at 10:15AM. Interested juniors and seniors must sign up in the guidance office to get a pass to attend.

 

5. NHHEAF is sponsoring future college athlete nights that can help parents and students prepare for college athletic participation. A panel of experts will be on hand to discuss NCAA eligibility, recruitment, self marketing and other issues. The first of these nights will be held at Mascoma High School on Thursday, Sept. 12th at 6PM. Pre-registration is required by calling Jay Hauser at 1-888-7-graduate ext. 441 or email him at jhauser@nhheaf.org.

 

6. Careers in Medicine, A National Youth Leadership Forum will be held next Summer in 13 different US cities. If you are student with demonstrated leadership potential and an interest in medicine who may be interested in getting more information about attending this forum, please see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance by Sept. 19th.

 

7. Running Start Program: Applications are due to Guidance by September 16th for Graphic Arts students, and on September 25th for English or Math students. Please attach a check for $150, and another for $20 if you are taking the Accuplacer test. The Accuplacer is scheduled for September 25th.You must take this test if you wish to take a Running Start class in English or Math.

8. Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation:

 Is sponsoring their annual Spelling Bee on October 17th. Please see Ms. Cascio in Guidance if you are interested in being on our BHS team.

 

9. Web2school usernames and passwords have been set up for the freshmen class and the new transfer students that started with BHS on 8/26. Please see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance for your information. Parents can email Mrs. O'Connell at coconnell@sau80.org for their information.


Clubs:

Prom Committee:

Next meeting will be on Monday, September 9th promptly at 2:15 in Ms.Tardugno's room.  Be prepared to discuss which committee you are willing to serve on.


Class of 2015 Reminders:

There will be a class meeting at the beginning of block 2 today   in the gym.  Candidates for class officers will be giving speeches and voting will take place at the end.  If you are not able to attend because of the Huot or Ag, please see Ms.Tardugno for an absentee ballot.

 

Class of 2016:

An  opportunity exists to park cars at the NH Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 22nd, but students must be at least 16 years of age.  We would catch a shuttle at approximately 3am to the track, check in and get our assignment and equipment, park cars from 6am to about the beginning of the race, turn in gear, and take the shuttle back.  There is a one-hour orientation session on Friday, Sept 13th at NHMS at 6pm, for which they pay for 2 hours time.  Please let me know if you are interested immediately.  First-come, first-served until spots are filled ... money credited to individual accounts.  We will need a couple of adults too, so let me know if you want to help as well.

 

Spanish Club:

It's that time of year again, for what, you may ask. Fundraising opportunities, of course, are available for you to help yourself.  Don't have a job and may be planning ahead for possible international travel, the prom, sports equipment, band or senior trip? If you considered any of these expenses, sign up in room 105. NHMS parking on Sun. Sept. 22.  See señora for details.


Fingerprinting:

Anyone who volunteers in the Shaker Regional School District must complete the background check, which includes fingerprinting, prior to the beginning of any volunteer event or activity. If you have been fingerprinted in a previous year, you will NOT need to be printed. Please note that it takes up to four weeks for the fingerprints to be processed. Volunteers cannot begin until the background check is completed. You will need to bring a photo ID with you – fingerprinting will not be able to be done without proper identification.
