BHS PTO

Welcomes YOU to our first meeting of the year – TONIGHT, September 18th at 6:00 PM at the BHS Guidance Office!  Please come join us as we kick off the new school year!  Parent involvement in the high school years is critical!  Join us to be "in the know" about what is going on at your child's High School!  Your kids will be "impressed" when you ask them about things going on at BHS!  There are no membership fees or requirements.  All are welcome to any meetings you can make!


At this first meeting, we are excited to hear about this years' changes at BHS and plans for the year ahead!  We are also looking for ideas for great activities to benefit parents, teachers and students .  College nights, It Takes a Village Workshops for parents and students, Girls Night Out/Mom Prom and other fun events are currently planned!  Please see our attached Agenda for more details!

 

FBLA

The Fall Leadership Workshop will be held on October 9th, 2014.   Please turn in permission slips to Colton Cadarette or Mr. Hill's mailbox by Friday.

 

For all students ... FBLA will continue to collect can tabs all year for David's House. You can drop them off in Rm 211 or pass into the main office. Thank you for your support!

 

Class of 2016:

Students working at NHMS need to turn in the waiver to Mr. Hill or his mailbox in the office.  

 

Senior Pictures

The deadline to submit senior pictures is fast approaching. Submit a disc or flash drive to Mrs. Hamilton BY Friday October 31st.  Any  photos turned in after this date will be charged a late fee.

 

Yearbook Sale

Yearbook sale ends this Friday, Sept. 19! Order forms are available through Mrs. Hamilton in Room 206 or click here to order your DISCOUNTED yearbook online. Don't miss the opportunity to save money on this keepsake. Supplies are LIMITED!

 

Class 0f 2015

The NASCAR race at NHMS is Sun. Sept. 21.  If you are 16 and want to work, sign up in room 207.   6 spots available for French, Spanish and Seniors.

 YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND the NH Construction Career Day on September 18th from 7:30am – 2:00pm.  Hands-on experience with Heavy Equipment, Welding, Small Tools, Plumbing, Electrical Wiring, Brick Laying and much more will be available to you to TEST DRIVE!   FREE Event

YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND the Lakes Region Manufacturing Week 9/29 - 10/3

Visit area Manufacturers such as Eptam Plastics, Titeflex Aerospace, NH Ball Bearing, Vitex Extrusion, Baron Machines, etc. as well as post-secondary options at LRCC.  Times and dates vary, so please see Mrs. Burke in Guidance to pick up a permission slip and schedule a visit.  Attention students interested in Marine Science...

YOU ARE INVITED TO ATTEND the Ocean Discovery Day at UNH - Chase Ocean Engineering Laboratory on October 3rd from 8:30am - 2:00pm.  Have a chance to talk with scientists, operate an ROV, learn about ocean mapping and ocean acoustics and handle sea creatures!  FREE EVENT

 

Guidance

Bow High School is hosting a college information night on 10/8 at 6:30 PM in
their Auditorium
for Yale, Dartmouth, Brown and Colby. If you are a student
who is applying to one of these schools, please pass this information on to
them so they can meet the reps. The event should last from 6:30-8:30 PM.

 

Students please be reminded that all application materials for students interested in obtaining a Congressional Nomination through Senator Jeanne Shaheen's office should be postmarked or hand delivered to her Manchester office by the close of business on Friday, October 3rd.  For more information on the service, academy nomination process or to obtain application materials.  Please visit Jeanne Shaheen's website at http://shaheen.senate.gov and click on "students".

 

Attention juniors and seniors! We have 4 colleges that will be visiting the guidance office next week.  On Tuesday, 9/23 at noon St. Thomas University, at 1pmSterling University, Wednesday 9/24 at 1:30pm UConn and on Thursday 9/25 at 9:15am Lyndon State College. If you are interested in learning more about any of these colleges please sign up in the guidance office

 

A representative from St. Thomas University in Canada will be in guidance on September 23rd to talk with students about their programs.

 

Spelling Bee

The Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation is hosting their annual Spelling Bee on November 6th at 6:30. This fun and entertaining event takes place at Laconia High School. Seniors, see Ms. Haubrich to join a team and have some fun (costumes welcome!). This is a great opportunity to get yourselves known to the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation people who will be awarding college scholarships in the Spring!

 

Running Start

Students interested in taking a Running Start course for anything but English 12 must submit their applications and payment by this Friday, September 19th. If you wish to take English 12 as a Running Start course, your application and payment is due byThursday, September 25th. If you are hoping to take English 12 as a Running Start course, you also must take the Accuplacer exam on September 29th. You may pay your $20 Accuplacer fee on that date, or ahead of time. All applications and payments go to Ms. Haubrich in guidance. Although Running Start courses are $150, you may also submit a Scholarship Form in order to get a reduced rate of $75. Parents, please contact me for further information regarding this valuable opportunity for your student to get college credit for English 12, AP World History, and/or Computer Graphics I and II.

 

Lasell College will be visiting the guidance office on Friday, September 19th. Juniors and seniors who would be interested in learning what Lasell has to offer should sign up in the guidance office

 

Web2School

The parent portal of web2school is up and working. Students who have been at BHS for the last 3 years will be using the same user names and passwords they have already be assigned. Freshmen and new students to BHS can see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance for their log in information. Parents feel free to call or email Mrs. O'Connell for your log in information.

 

 

JUNIORS and SENIORS

Off for a college visit? Snap a selfie by one of that college's landmarks and send it off to Ms. Seiferth at bseiferth@sau80.org  We will print it of and add it to our new college bound bulletin board!

 

 

 

National Honor Society

There will be a National Honor Society meeting today, September 18th, in the guidance office at 10:20am.

 

French Club

French club will meet today after school in room 205.

 

Seniors

There will be an important Senior Class Meeting in the gymnasium during the first half of Power Hour on Friday.  If you cannot attend, please see Ms. Tardugno to take the survey.

 

Chess Club

There will be a Chess Club meeting Thursday September 18th at 11:00am in room 209.

 

First Day Packets

Students if you have NOT  passed in your first day of school paperwork you need to check at home and in your backpacks and make sure they are passed in to the front office.

 

Advisory

Mrs. Beauchesne and Mr. Foley's advisory will meet today during the second half of power hour in room 214.

 

Freshmen

Will meet today during the first half of power hour in room 105.

 

NHMS

Anyone interested in working at NHMS this weekend please see Mr. Geoffrey's.

 

Ice Hockey

Anyone interested in playing Ice Hockey this winter please attend a short meeting in the gym on Friday September 19 at 10:20am. Coach Londer will be there to discuss the season and answer any questions

 

Advisory

Mrs. O'Connell's freshmen advisory will meet on Friday 10/19 at 10:50 in the guidance office.
