Athletics:

Track & Field away @ Interlakes 4:00PM- bus departs @ 2:30PM.

 

Girls Lacrosse Fundraisers:

  1. The BHS Girls Lacrosse team will be hosting a fundraising night at Uno's in Tilton on Friday May 17th. Come out and support the girls by having dinner and a portion of the bill will be donated to the team. Any questions please contact Marta Robbins @ mrobbins@nhada.com
  2. Muse Paint Bar in Manchester on May 26th from 12:00- 2:15 . They will donate up to 50%

Booster Club:

As the  Belmont High School Booster Club's Banquet approaches we need to get a count of all who plan to attend whether athlete or family.  This year the Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducting Coach John Goegel.

Our aim as a Club continues to do our best to ensure all those students participating in the BHS athletic program know that we appreciate them as students and appreciate their contributions to their sport or sports of choice.

This year's banquet will be held on Friday, May 31st in the Belmont High School cafeteria. This is after the Spring Sports Awards.  All athletes are our guests. (Free meal) We will have a fully catered meal, BHS Athletic Hall of Fame presentation, and a slide show.  Each student athlete also receives a small gift of appreciation. 

If you have not yet let us know that you will be attending we would love to hear from you.  You may leave your notice in the Booster Club mailbox in the main office, or you may reply to elizabethroach@aol.com.

 

BHS PTO:

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 16th at 6 pm in the Guidance Office conference room.  Please come join us!  No commitments are necessary.  Please review the attached BHS PTO Meeting Agenda.

 

Summers Driver's Ed:

The summer session of Driver's Ed will begin on July 16th and will run until Aug. 20th. Classes will be held on Tues., Wed ., and Thurs. from 8:30-10:30AM. If you are, or will be, turning 16 by Aug 20th and would like to sign up for the class please pick up a registration form in the main office. Cost is $650 with a $150 deposit required when you register for the class.


 

Spring Pops Concert:

Tomorrow night @ 7:00PM in the BHS gym. This concert is for band and chorus students.


Eat for a Cause:

Come out and enjoy a hearty meal with all profits being donated to Relay for Life Foundation. The menu will include lasagna, salad, breadsticks, and dessert. Dinner is purchased by the plate, so grab your friends and family.  The lasagna dinner will be held tomorrow night @ 5:00PM in the BHS cafeteria.  Adults $8, Students $5, Under 5 yrs old is FREE.


Summer Intern Program:

LRGHealthcare is offering local teens, ages 15-18, interested in a career in healthcare, the opportunity to participate in a summer intern program. Upon completion, students will be eligible to volunteer working directly with the nurse's aides.  There are 2 sessions July 15-19 or Aug 5-9. For more information, contact LRGH @ 524-3211 ext 6720 or www.lrgh.org to download an application or you can pick up an application in the guidance office. Applications are due Friday, June 1.

 

Internet Safety Informational  Night:

Sponsored by the Belmont Police Dept.,May 13th @ 6:00PM in the BHS cafeteria. The topics of discussion will be risks and benefits of social networking, how to recognize if your child may be at risk, and prevention from becoming a victim.

 

Yearbook:

Are now on sale for $45 or you can reserve one with a $5 deposit. Please see Ms. Pitrone if you have any questions. Get yours today! Yearbooks will be distributed May 31st. Quantities are limited so be sure to purchase yours ASAP.

 

Guidance:

Huot Technical Center is holding an Open House to allow people to see their new addition on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Open House is 5-7PM.  Tours will be held at 9am, 11am, and from 2-3pm. Stop by and see what programs they have to offer.


Laconia Airport Open House:

For those interested in aviation and transportation:  Laconia Airport will host an Open House on Sat. June 8 from 10-2, showcasing antique and unusual aircraft, boats, motorcycles, and cars.  This event is family friendly and free.


Job opportunity:

For students who are at least 16 years old and have a valid driver's license. Cleaning vacation rental cottages on Saturdays. Interested students should see Mrs. O'Connell for contact information.

Laconia Athletic and Swim Club is offering 2 Lifeguard Training Courses and one WSI course this Spring!  Get certified now for your Summer Job.

 

LGT Course #2:  May 18th (10am-6pm), May 19th (9am-5pm) & May 25th (10am-6pm)

LGT Course #3:  June 1st  (10am-6pm), June 2nd (9am-5pm) & June 8th (10am-6pm)

 

WSI Course #1:  June 20th (3-9 pm), June 21st (3-9 pm), June 22nd (8 am-5 pm) &                               June 23rd (8 am-5 pm)

 

 

Lifeguarding Participants will be certified in CPR/AED for the professional rescer,

Lifeguard Training and First Aid.  Certification is good for 2 years.  Participants must be 15 years of age by end of the course.  Price $325.  Swimming pretest.

 

WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Participants will be certified to teach swim lessons to the young and old.  Must be 16 years of age.  Price $325  Swimming pretest.

FREE Summer School Classes at BHS:

We are offering a few summer school classes for students interested in taking classes this summer to build credits on their transcript.

1. Digital Photography with Mr. Frick being offered from June 24-Aug 1st. (6 wks)Classes are Monday & Wednesday from 8am-10:30am or Tuesday & Thursday from 8am-10:30am. At least 8 students have to sign up for each section in order to run a class. Permission slip and class syllabus are in guidance. Please note: Space is limited so you are encouraged to sign up in guidance and get a permission slip.

2. Creative Writing with Ms. Pitrone being offered from June 24-Aug 1st. Classes are Monday and Wednesday from 10:30am-1pm

3. Theatre Arts with Ms. Pitrone from June 24-Aug 1st, classes are Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30am-1pm. Permission slip and class syllabus are in guidance. Please sign up in the guidance office and get a permission slip. At least 8 students must sign up for each class or the class will be cancelled.

Students who are interested in taking any of these summer classes should have signed permission forms to guidance ASAP.

Seniors:

 Any senior planning on going into education for a career, there is a book award available through the Shaker Regional Education Association.  See Ms. Angwin for the application. Deadline is tomorrow.

Clubs:

French Club:

1. We will be raffling off a Kindle Fire HD with a 8.9" Display – 16GB
Please see a member of the French club to buy tickets ($5 each, 5 for $20).  Winner will be drawn June 7, 2013.  

2. Our last French Club meeting of the year will be on Wednesday, May 22 after school.  More details to come!

 

Chess Club:

Today after school in Rm 209.  Come on in, play some chess, and have fun. Chess Club will meet each Tuesday after school until the end of the school year.

 

Student Council:

Will be hosting Battle of the Bands on Friday, May 17th @ 7:00PM. Cost of admission is $5.  Please note, all cars will need to be moved out of the main parking lot either into the teachers or back parking  lot  at the end of the school day to set up for.
