Congratulations to Kathryn Wright on her acceptance to NHTI and to Kiersten Slater on her acceptance to Keene State College


BG Hockey:

Congratulations to the Ice Hockey team on their overtime win on Saturday. They will play in the semi final round on Wednesday March 12 vs  Souhegan at 5:00PM at Everett Arena in Concord. The bus for the players will leave Laconia Ice Arena at 3:10pm


Boys Baseball:

We will be holding optional open gym sessions before our official start date. Thursday 3/13 5:30 – 7:30, Friday 3/14 2:30 – 4:30, Tuesday 3/18 5:30 – 7:30, Thursday 3/20 2:30 – 5:00. Could you please block these out on the master schedule?

 

Girls Lacrosse:

 There will be a meeting for anyone interested in playing tomorrow @4:00pm in the gym.

 

Nordic Ski Team:

All Nordic Ski team members can return their uniform to the main office  by tomorrow.

 

Winter Sports Awards:

Winter Sports Awards night will be held on Tuesday March 18th at 6pm starting in the gym and breakout sessions to follow

 

Spring Track:

Pre-Season Outdoor Track and Field Meeting is Thursday March 13th at 2:30 in Room 107.  Paperwork and Team Information will be presented.  If unable to attend contact Mr. Hayward in Room 107.  First day of practice is Monday March 24th at 2:30

 

BHS Girls Softball Clinic:

Dust off the cobwebs and learn from college and high school players and coaches on hitting, throwing and fielding. Saturday, March 15th @ BHS for grades 1-8. Grades 1-5 will be from 10:00AM -12:00PM and Grades 5-8 1:00-4:00PM. The clinic is FREE however donations are welcome at check in. To register, please email player info and clinic dates to wclary@icloud.com or call  Bill Clary @ 393-7982.

 

News from the Music Dept:

1. BHS Cabaret:

Join the BHS band members on Friday, March 21 for our annual Spring Cabaret!  Members of the high school band and chorus will be performing at 6:30 in the cafeteria.  This year we will be serving a baked potato bar, salad bar and chili, all included in the ticket price!  Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door.  You can purchase tickets from any band member and proceeds benefit the BHS band program.  Please come enjoy some wonderful entertainment and delicious food and show your support of the Shaker Regional School District's arts department!!  Please contact Mrs. Fountain at lfountain@sau80.org or phone extension 1150 with any questions or to reserve tickets.  We'll see you there!

 

2.Choral Concert:

On Tuesday, March 25th, the BHS Chorus and BMS' 7th & 8th Grade Chorus will present a concert at the High School gymnasium.  This concert will begin at 7:30 PM(instead of the usual, and previously advertised 7:00) to avoid a School Board meeting scheduling conflict.  Parents and students are encouraged to attend. Guidance Office:

1. Seniors: There are many scholarship opportunities in the guidance office. Several scholarship deadlines are fast approaching!!!!!

Lakes Region Board of Realtors 3/12, Anna Lee Thorndike Art Competition 3/28, Janice Scott Memorial 3/31, Maurice Fortin Memorial Fund 4/1, Franklin Savings Bank 4/11, Lakes Region Scholarship 4/15 and many others. Don't miss these opportunities to help fund your college tuition. 


2. Daniel Webster College will be visiting the guidance office today  at 9:15am.

 

3. We are looking for a "few good juniors" who may need help with college application fees, SAT and ACT fee waivers and general college prep assistance. You must be a student with a GPA of at least 85. If this sounds like you, please see Mrs. O'Connell in guidance.

 

4. Laconia Adult Education will be offering an SAT Prep Class beginning on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. The classes will meet from 6-9PM for a period of (7) weeks. The Classes are scheduled to end on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. The SAT exam is scheduled to be given on Saturday, May 3rd. The prep class will enable the student to become more familiar with the types of questions that will be asked. The cost of the class is $95.00, which includes the book fee of $20.  To enroll in the SAT Prep Class you should contact Peggy Selig at Laconia Adult Education at 524-5712.

Career Corner with Mrs. Burke in Guidance:

The first 10 students interested in learning more about ENGINEERING, please join me on March 27th in our block 3 STEM class to hear from GC Engineering.  Again, this is for the first 10 interested students who stop by guidance to pick up a list of questions for our guest speaker, Mark Condodemetraky.

  If you are attending the State Leadership Conference you will need to select a workshop by today . Please see Mr. Hill with your completed presentation by today and make plans to practice prior to the conference.  

 

 Any student who is attending the State Leadership Conference next week must have both permission slips in to Mr. Hill by Monday at 2:30pm, or you will not be permitted to participate and will be responsible for the remainder of your registration fees.  These forms were due on February 14th.


 Next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 12th at 2:20pm in Mr. Hill's room.  

 

CAN TABS - FBLA will be delivering can tabs for David's House this week.  If anyone has collected can tabs for this cause, please bring them to the high school by today  We will continue to collect can tabs each year for David's House for those of you who are willing to continue with us.  Thank you for your support of this great New Hampshire organization!

Robotics:

Meets today @ 2:30 in Rm 209.

 

Chess Club:

Meets today @ 2:30PM in Rm 209. Mr. Deshaies has several boxes of checkers & chess boards free for the taking.
