FBLA:

The BHS FBLA Chapter had an incredibly successful trip to the NH-FBLA State Leadership Conference last Thursday and Friday.  The chapter earned 1st place finishes for their FBLA Week Promotional Efforts, Largest % Increase in Membership, and Local Chapter Scrapbook.  The chapter also finished as the third most outstanding chapter in New Hampshire, behind only Pinkerton and Salem.  Seniors Courtney Pelletier and Shania Mulley were recognized as members of Who's Who in NH-FBLA, Mary Kate Russo won the Theme Design contest for the event t-shirts, and Mr. Hill received the Local Chapter Advisor of the Year award.  Nineteen students also placed in the Top 3 of their competitive events:

 1st Place – Business Communications - Courtney Pelletier, 3rd Place – Business Math – Alise Shuten, 1st Place – Business Plan – Alex Lugar, Cori Heimlich, 3rd Place – Digital Design & Promotion – Alex Gilbert,  2nd Place – Digital Video Production – Shania Mulley and Mary Kate Russo,  2nd Place – Emerging Business Issues – Chayleigh Cadarette and Courtney Clairmont, 3rd Place – Introduction to Technology Concepts – Nick Keifer,  2nd Place – Introduction to Technology Concepts – Casey Akerman, 1st Place – Introduction to Technology Concepts – Dakota Wright, 1st Place – Job Interview – Cody North,  3rd Place – Public Service Announcement – Cameron Ekholm, Danny Iacopucci, Nick Oakes, 2nd Place – Public Service Announcement – Maddy Lacharite, Emily Laflam, Sam Lugar

 

Athletics:

Spring Sign ups:

If you are interested in playing a spring sport signup sheets are located on the gym doors.

 

Boys Baseball:

 Will be holding optional open gym sessions before the official start date of spring sports   Thursday 3/20 from  2:30 – 5:00PM.

 

Winter Sports Awards:

Winter Sports Awards night will be held tomorrow night  @ 6pm starting in the gym and breakout sessions to follow

 

Spring Track:

Pre-Season Outdoor Track and Field Meeting tomorrow @ 2:30 in Room 107.  Paperwork and Team Information will be presented. If unable to attend contact Mr. Hayward in Room107. First day of practice is Monday March 24th @2:30PM

 

Drivers Education:

Any past drivers ed student who has a driver’s ed book in their possession please pass into main office.

 

BHS PTO:

March meeting will be on Thursday, March 27th.

 

NHS Blood Drive:

We Want Your Blood!  Sign up to donate blood in room 204 for the March 27th  Blood Drive.  You must be 17 or older with a valid ID.  Your school ID works.  If you are 16 with a valid ID and you want to donate blood, you must fill out a permission slip ahead of time.  Free food & t-shirts for all donors. Blood Drive will run from 11:00-4:00PM

News from the Music Dept:

1. BHS Cabaret:

Join the BHS band members on Friday, March 21st  for our annual Spring Cabaret!  Members of the high school band and chorus will be performing at 6:30 in the cafeteria.  This year we will be serving a baked potato bar, salad bar and chili, all included in the ticket price!  Tickets are $5.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door.  You can purchase tickets from any band member and proceeds benefit the BHS band program.  Please come enjoy some wonderful entertainment and delicious food and show your support of the Shaker Regional School District's arts department!!  Please contact Mrs. Fountain at lfountain@sau80.org or phone extension 1150 with any questions,  to reserve tickets or if you would like to  donate a soup, chili or chowder to this event.

 

2.Choral Concert:

On Tuesday, March 25th, the BHS Chorus and BMS' 7th & 8th Grade Chorus will present a concert at the High School gymnasium.  This concert will begin at 7:30 PM(instead of the usual, and previously advertised 7:00) to avoid a School Board meeting scheduling conflict.  Parents and students are encouraged to attend. Guidance Office:

1. Seniors: There are many scholarship opportunities in the guidance office. Several scholarship deadlines are fast approaching!!!!!

Anna Lee Thorndike Art Competition 3/28, Janice Scott Memorial 3/31, Maurice Fortin Memorial Fund 4/1, Franklin Savings Bank 4/11, Lakes Region Scholarship 4/15 and many others. Don't miss these opportunities to help fund your college tuition. 

 

Career Corner with Mrs. Burke in Guidance:

1.The first 10 students interested in learning more about ENGINEERING, please join me on March 27th in our block 3 STEM class to hear from GC Engineering.  Again, this is for the first 10 interested students who stop by guidance to pick up a list of questions for our guest speaker, Mark Condodemetraky.

 

2. What:  Job Fair sponsored by NH Employment Security

When:  Wednesday, April 2, 2014 between 10am - 2pm

Where:  Belknap Mall

*  Open to the public (must have own transportation and permission to leave school)

*  Be prepared, dress nice and bring your resume and/or generic job application

*  If you need any advice or more information, please see Mrs. Burke

 

Clubs:

Prom Committee;

There will be a brief Prom Committee Meeting after school today in room 208.  Please check in with Ms.Tardugno if you can't attend for some reason.

Robotics:

Meets today @ 2:30PM in Rm 209.


Student Council:

Meets tomorrow @ 2:15 in Rm. 216

 

Chess Club:

Meets tomorrow @ 2:30PM in Rm. 209
