Red Raider Golf Tournament:

BHS will be hosting the 1st Annual Red Raider Golf Tournament on Friday June 27th at Loudon Country Club. If you would like more info please pick up an informational sheet with details.


BHS Broadcasting:

Jump$tart Get10 Virtual Quest:

NH Jump$tart is sponsoring a 10-question financial quiz for students between the ages of 14 and 18.  Any student who answers all 10 questions correctly will be entered into a drawing for two $150 Amazon gift cards.  Ten additional $30 Amazon gift cards will also be awarded.  See Mr. Hill for details or go to www.jumpstartget10.org, click on "Yes" to accept the mission, and then "Begin your quest".  Each question has a CLUE button next to it which will take you to a page where you can look up the answers.  The quest is created for you to be successful and learn a few key financial tips along the way.  You can also print a PDF of the quiz, look up the answers, and see Mr. Hill to check them before submitting to ensure that you get all ten correct.  Good luck! 

 

 

Drivers Education:

The next session of driver’s education starts on May 6th. If you are interested in signing up for this class a form can be picked up in the main office. Please note you will need to be 16 by June 19th.

 


Guidance:

Seniors: There are many scholarship opportunities in the guidance office. Deadlines are as follows:  Janice Scott Memorial today  Maurice Fortin Memorial Fund tomorrow,  Franklin Savings Bank 4/11, Lakes Region Scholarship 4/15 and many others. Don't miss these opportunities to help fund your college tuition


2. Lakes Region Community College:

 will be offering a Summer Scholars program again this year. With the help and generosity of LRGHealthcare they will be providing a FREE college Anatomy & Physiology I course to a select group of high school students. This class offers a very challenging and stimulating summer experience. This course will allow student to earn 4 college credits which are transferable to UNH, PSU, Keene and other colleges and universities. Students who complete Anatomy & Physiology have a significant advantage when applying for selective college program such as nursing.  Only 2 students can be chosen from BHS to attend this free summer course. The classes will run over a 7 week period from June 24th to August 7th on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am -2:55pm. This is a major academic and time commitment! Only serious student should apply. Students applying must have had biology and algebra I. Applications available in guidance office. Deadline to apply is April 8th

 

Career Corner with Mrs. Burke in Guidance:

1. What:  Job Fair sponsored by NH Employment Security

When:  Wednesday, April 2, 2014 between 10am - 2pm

Where:  Belknap Mall

*  Open to the public (must have own transportation and permission to leave school)

*  Be prepared, dress nice and bring your resume and/or generic job application

*  If you need any advice or more information, please see Mrs. Burke

 

2.Faith, Hope and Love Foundation:

Attention Ladies:  Going to Prom?  Need a FREE Prom Dress?  The Faith, Hope, and Love Foundation will be offering FREE Prom Dresses to any high school aged girl in NH (no questions asked) on Saturday April 12th at the Meredith Bay Colony Club from 1-4 PM.  This event is one day only and is a first come first serve event. Have a dress you want to donate?  You can drop dresses off at Sundays Salon and Spa in downtown Laconia by April 10th!

 

3. On the guidance bulletin board, please look at the most current job openings available to students.

 

 

4. The National Association for College Admission Counseling invites sophomore, juniors and seniors to the National College Fair coming to our area. The fair is free and open to the public that will  have admission reps from hundreds of colleges and universities available to speak to students about the college admissions process. Students who want to attend should pre-register on line atwww.gotomyncf.com. There are 4 locations and times in the Northeast. 

Springfield, MA 3/30 and 3/31, Providence, RI 4/26, Hartford, CT 4/3 and 4/4 and lastly, Boston, MA 5/1 and 5/2. See website for additional details.

 

Clubs:

FBLA:

Can Tabs - FBLA will continue to collect can tabs all year for David's House, which is on the campus of the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD).  The house provides a place for families who live far away or cannot afford hotels to stay while their children undergo treatment at CHaD.  More information about the house can be found at www.davids-house.org.  BHS-FBLA sent 33.5 pounds of can tabs earlier this month.  Thank you to the many people who are supporting this great cause!

 

Robotics:

Meets today  @ 2:30 in Rm 209.

 

Student Council:

Meets tomorrow , April 1 @ 2:15PM in Rm 216

 

Chess Club:

Meets tomorrow , April 1 @ 2:30PM in Rm 209.
