Athletics
The AJL Babe Ruth League based in Laconia is currently accepting on-line registrations for boys' ages 13-15 who are interested in playing baseball.  Signups need to be completed ASAP.  The web address to register is: https://leagueathletics.com/Default.asp?org=ajlbaberuth.com

The baseball scrimmage for today, 4/9, has been cancelled. We will still have pictures, in uniforms, after school and practice at 5:45.

 

Drivers Education:

The next driver's ed class starts on May 5th and will run until June 18th. Please note you must be 16 by the end of the class. Parent Meeting will be on May 4th. If you are interested in signing up please come to the main office for a form. The deposit of $150 is due by April 10th with the remaining balance due on the first class May 4th.


Summer Drivers Ed will start 7/14, but the class will be very limited and the deadline to sign up with your $150.00 deposit will be May 29th.


PROM:

Prom will be held on Saturday, 5/16 from 6-11pm at Gunstock. Tickets ($50 per person) will be on sale this week during Power Hour.  If you are at the Huot Center during Power Hour, please see Ms. Haubrich for ticket purchases. Checks can be made payable to BHS. 

Friday, April 10th will be the last day to purchase prom tickets.  Tickets will be on sale this week during Power Hour in the lobby and after that in Guidance by seeing Ms. Haubrich.  If you are bringing a guest, please pick up a form in the main office and return it by Friday, April 24th.  If you have any concerns with meeting these deadlines, please see Ms. Haubrich before the deadline dates.

 

Guidance:

Attention Juniors!!

Lakes Region Community College is offering their annual summer scholars program. With the generous support of LRGHealthcare the college will be providing a FREE college Anatomy and Physiology I course to a select group of talented high school students interested in a career in the field of healthcare. This course is extremely challenging, but very rewarding.  

In addition, successful completion of this course will allow students to earn four college credits, which are transferable to the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State, Keene State and other colleges and universities. Anatomy & Physiology I completion will give students applying for selective college programs such as Nursing a significant advantage.  Interested juniors must have completed algebra I and biology as prerequisites.

LRCC is asking only that students show their serious intention by making a $50 deposit, which will be fully refunded to all students who complete the course. 

BHS can only send two students to this program and time is of the essence. Interested students must come to guidance and fill out an application and return it to guidance no later than April 18th.

Attention Juniors! The NHHEAF (NH Higher Education Assistance Foundation) is offering TWO FREE SAT PREP CLASSES!  NHHEAF is located at 3 Barrell Court in Concord. The first class will be held on Monday, July 27th and Tuesday, July 28th from 2-4:30pm both afternoons,  you must attend both sessions!! The next FREE class will be held on Monday, August 10th and Tuesday, August 11th from 2-4:30pm both afternoons, you must attend both sessions!!  Space is limited to the first 25 students who register. Lakes Region Community College will be holding an Open House on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 9am-noon. Undecided seniors might want to check out the 28 different degree programs they have to offer.


NHTI in Concord will be holding an Open House on Wednesday, April 8th from 5-7pm

Freshman Academy Team

Will be hosting an 8th grade parent Spaghetti Dinner night at BHS on 4/9 from 6pm to 8pm in the cafeteria.

 

It Takes a Village Series  - Teen Drug Experimentation & Addiction Workshop 
Belmont High School PTO is excited to continue our series of "It Takes a Village" workshops for Lakes Region students and parents.  On Wednesday, April 15, we will have several amazing partners presenting information on Teen Drug Experimentation and Addictions.  This event is free and open to the public – Parents and Students of the Lakes Region!  It will be held in the Belmont High School cafeteria (255 Seavey Rd., Belmont) from 6:30 – 8:30 pm Refreshments will be served. Get a realistic understanding of the challenges our kids face and how we can support them by creating awareness in our communities.

Our guest speakers include Steven Steiner, who founded "Dads and Moms Against Drug Dealers"; Jennifer Parker is a licensed alcohol and drug counselor at Phoenix House, a local treatment center;  Officer Evan Boulanger is a Senior Patrolman, K-9 Handler, and Belmont Police department's Drug Recognition Expert. Any questions may be directed to Donna Iacopucci, BHS PTO President, at donnaike@metrocast.net.


BJ's Membership Fundraiser 
Belmont High School PTO is offering an exciting, money-saving fundraiser from BJ's Wholesale Club. This fundraiser will allow anyone (you, your friends, family, coworkers, etc.) to renew or start a new BJ's membership for a $10 discount and 3 additional months (15 months total). Renewals will be added to the end of your current term - your current membership will not be affected.  Belmont High School PTO earns $5 for every membership ! Please help your BHS PTO continue to support our staff and students. Lakes Region Girls' Night Out / Mom Prom
Belmont High School PTO is hosting their second annual Lakes Region Girls' Night Out/Mom Prom on Saturday, April 18th from 7-10 pm in the Belmont High School gymnasium!  If you are looking for a memorable evening, grab your friends and come join us!  Our DJ will crank up the sound with hits from the 70s, 80s, 90s and beyond.  Enjoy door prizes, raffles and games!  Come as you are, or go all out with a prom or cocktail dress!  All proceeds will benefit BHS PTO and help provide programs such as "It Takes A Village" to raise awareness on teen issues such as drug experimentation and addiction.  Tickets are $ 20 in advance or $ 25 at the door.  You can order your tickets by emailingmomprom.bhspto@gmail.com or by calling Gretta Olson-Wilder at 524-2782.

VOLUNTEERS needed for REFRESHMENTS!

BHS PTO is looking for homemade or store purchased finger food dessert items (cookies, brownies, cookie bars, cupcakes, etc.) for our It Takes a Village Workshop and Mom Prom /Girls' Night Out.

On Wednesday, April 15th, we will be hosting our It Takes a Village Workshop on teen drug experimentation and addiction, and on Saturday, April 18th we will be hosting our 2nd Annual Mom Prom/Girls' Night Out.

We appreciate any donations that you are able to offer.  Please contact Colleen at ptocolleen@tangoware.comor 455-9011 if you would like to provide any refreshments for these events.
