HERE'S WHAT'S NEW:

 

 

BG Hockey:   There will be a fan bus leaving BHS Saturday at 11:00 a.m. There is no cost for the bus.  You MUST sign up for the bus in the office.  You can pre-buy your ticket (Students-$7, Adults $9) in the office or you can purchase your tickets at the Verizon.  The Verizon has some rules that you need to be aware of:  They are as follows:

·         There are now walk through metal detectors as opposed to doing visual and pat down searches. 

·         NO bags (including back packs) any larger than 14" by 16" are allowed. 

·         ANY bag will be physically searched.

·         "Leathermen Tools" and pocket knives of any size are not allowed

·         There is NO outside food or drink allowed.     

·         Per NHIAA, NO NOISE MAKERS ALLOWED!

SADD:  There is a Students Against Deadly Decisions meeting the first half of power hour TODAY in room 206.

 

Track and Field:  Track season is upon us!  Practices will begin on Monday, 3/21 from 2:30-4:15.  Athletes need to return their paperwork to Mr. Hayward or Mr. Clark before they can start, no exceptions!  If you have any questions see us.  Be prepared with appropriate clothing to be outside.

 

College AcceptancesCongratulations to Charlie Witham on his acceptance to the Massachusetts Institute of Art​.  Congratulations to Ben Van Cleave on his acceptance to Fordham University.

 

Spring CabaretPlease join the BHS band for an evening of music and refreshments at the Spring Cabaret!  It is being held Thursday, March 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Admission is $6.00.  We hope to see you there!

 

Unified Volleyball:    All unified Volleyball players please meet in room 103 at the beginning of power hour today.

 

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

Cool Schools Food Drive:  We will be having a food drive March 2nd – March 22nd for our community food bank and Easter.  Donations of Easter Baskets and fixings are greatly appreciated.

 

Leprechaun Leap 5k Saturday, March 19 in Belmont:  Our 4th annual run/walk is coming up soon!  Entry fee for pre-registrations, as well as day-of event registrations, is only $10. The 5k starts and finishes near the Belmont Mill (behind the Library). Our challenging loop includes Concord St., Wareing Road, South Road, and Shaker Road. Prizes awarded for top finishers in Adult Male/Female, and Youth Male/Female divisions.    

Boy's LacrosseThere will be open gym for boy's lacrosse every Sunday from 2-4 p.m. until further notice.

 

ATTENTION SENIORS:

 

SENIORS…Please stop by the School Counseling Office on 3/24 to learn more about post-secondary options at Lakes Region Community College!  Application assistance will be available as well as assistance with program selection!  Sign up today!

School-to-Career

 

Criminal Justice Day - April 1st @ NHTI - students will have the opportunity to hear from different law enforcement agencies to learn more about their careers and skills needed to be successful in this field.  Lunch is included.   Please see Ms. Burke for more information and please pick up the permission slip in the School Counseling Office.

 

LRCC Application DAY - March 24th

 

Attention Juniors and Seniors! The Belmont Rotary organization is looking for two students to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. This peer leadership program will take place on Saturday, March 19th from 10am-4:30pm (must have own transportation). This peer leadership program will give participants the skills needed to understand their own leadership styles, how teams work, and how a group can perform more effectively. This one day event provides an opportunity for teen leaders to network by meeting and working with peers from around the district. We must have a commitment from 2 students in either the junior or senior class by Friday, March 11th!! See Mrs. O'Connell is guidance if you are interested. First come, first serve!!

 

Junior boys: Attention boys of the junior class. The American Legion Dept. of NH will be holding their annual Boys State summer program from June 26th-July 1st, 2016, at Rivier University in Nashua, NH. This is an affordable educational program for boys completing their junior year of high school. The only cost is a non-refundable $50.00 application fee. GRANITE STATE GAMES TRYOUTS:

Coming this June the multi-sport competitive Granite State games for New Hampshire athletes.  These games are a great opportunity to get extra training, work/meet different coaches, and get seen in front of college scouts and most of all to have fun!  All events are open to incoming freshman (8th graders) – juniors (graduating 2017).

 

If you are interested in participating in the 2016 Granite State Games and have any questions please talk to Student Ambassadors Devin Poslusny, Chaz Hacking or Athletic Director Ms. Knolhoff.  Also, here is the link:

Spanish Foreign Exchange Program:  We are currently looking for volunteer host families for the Spain Foreign Exchange program for July 7th – July 28th, 2016.  For more information, please see the attached brochure and contact Angela New at loveforeignexchange@gmail.com.
