Updates: Governor's Announcement, Survey Results, April Vacation, End of Year

Good afternoon Parents/Guardians, Staff, and Students,

The following are a few important updates.

Governor's Announcement:
Governor Sununu announced today that remote learning will continue through the end of the school year.

April Vacation Survey Results:
Thanks to all of you who took the time to fill out the April Vacation Survey. The results are:

1707 people responded
51.8% in favor of continuing remote learning through April
48.2% in favor of having April vacation

Based on the survey results and the Governor's announcement that remote learning will continue through the remainder of the school year, I am recommending the following adjustment to our school calendar. My recommendation will be presented to the School Board at their next meeting, Tuesday, April 21st. Adjustments to the school calendar will need School Board approval.

Adjustment to April Vacation:

April 27th - April 28th - Teacher Workshops / No School for Students
Students have both days off and will not need to make these days up in June. Teachers have the two days for lesson planning purposes only. Teachers will have no additional requirements on these days.

April 29th - May 1st - Student Days (continue with remote learning). Wednesday April 29th will be a flex day.

End of Year:

June 5th - Last day for students.

June 8th - June 12th - Teacher Workshop Days. These days will be used to develop re-entry plans for the fall. This will give administrators, teachers, and specialists time to tackle the many items that will need to be addressed in preparation for our students returning to school in the fall.

June 12th -  Last day for teachers.

I have attached a draft calendar with the above adjustments for your reference. I will send you an email with the results of the School Board's vote following their meeting next Tuesday.

I know that many of you have questions about graduation, end-of-year events and celebrations, summer programming, and many others.  Please know that we share those same questions and are using the influx of new information for long-range planning purposes. Our goal is to make sure students are able to experience these memorable end-of-year events, celebrations and summer opportunities to the best of our ability while following the Governor's executive order and state health guidelines. We will continue to keep you posted as our planning continues.

Thank you for your efforts, flexibility, and patience.
Michael
